This week has been the first one of our summer vacation and it has been a good one. I’m definitely enjoying every minute of it so far.
On Saturday we visited my mother in law, who we hadn’t visited in real-life for a view months. It was fun to see how much our little girl and my mother in law enjoyed it.
On Sunday we went to the Zoo and had a great time. Our little girl is now able to walk herself, and she is enjoying it so much. Which means we enjoy it a lot to. She is laughing a lot, and she is very curious about everything she sees. I love seeing her like this. We ended the trip with an ice cream and her face said it all.
The rest of the week we went to some different stores to look for a new couch and a buffet cabinet. We’ve been wanting to look at those for ages, but with Corona it was hard to do. Now the stores here have opened up again, with restrictions obviously, but it was so nice to be able to go there again. And in the end we got ourselves a beautiful new couch, chair and cabinet. The cabinet will arrive this weekend, and the couch and chair will take about 8 to 12 weeks to get here. But at least we are finally able to get stuff for our home done. I’m super excited.
And not to forget.. I finally went to a hairdresser. It was so nice. I ended up with much shorter hair, and I’m still getting used to it a little. But it feels much better! I have a lot of hair, and it’s very thick.. so it’s definitely nice to have shorter hair with these warmer temperatures.
On Thursday I had to work a view hours at home (yes I know I’m supposed to be on vacation and I’m crazy LOL). I had an online meeting and a video call with my colleague. So not to much, and I was able to join my vacation again at 11.30 a.m. So all is good.
This weekend we are visiting my mom with our little girl. I’m super excited about visiting their home again for the first time since March. I’ve been their ones a view weeks back, but only to drop something off in the garden. So, even though we will still keep our distance and take precautions, it will be great to visit again.
Reading wise I’ve been doing really well too. I’m catching up on my reading and I’m enjoying these books a lot so far. So yes.. it has been a great first week of vacation. One more to go!

That’s awesome you guys are having a good vacation so far! And isn’t it nice to be able to see family again? And congrats on the furniture!!! Hope your week ahead is a good one as well!
Thank you Greg. It’s been a bit scary to spend so much money.. but our home is definitely looking better and better.
And yes to seeing family more. I really missed that the most these last couple of months.
Happy reading.
Enjoy your visit with your mom today, Maureen! I wish I could just hop in the car and visit mine, but it’s way too far for that. I just hope I’ll feel OK with taking a plane again this year so I can go see her once this year.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂
Thank you Linda. It was great to see her again. I’m sorry to read you aren’t able to visit your mom easily. I definitely realise how lucky I am to have my mom living close! I hope you get to see your mom soon.
Happy reading.
Hi Maureen! Glad you are having a holiday! A new haircut is always good. Hairdresser will open in SA tomorrow, so I think we will see a few new hair do’s!
Hope you get to spend your holidays with a few awesome books. Sure seems like it.
Enjoy! Here’s my <a href="https://elzareads.blogspot.com/2020/06/the-sunday-post-2.html"Sunday Post
Thanks Mareli. I’m happy to hear hairdressers are opening up on your end too.
Happy reading.
Ah… the pic is adorable – isn’t she pretty?? I hope you have the loveliest visit. We are still being very careful and hope to go down to Ringwood to see both sets of parents during Himself’s annual leave, now coming up. And glad you are able to go and do the shopping – I envy you a haircut! Enjoy the rest of your holiday, Maureen.
Thanks Sarah. It was a great trip! But it’s still weird not being able to give your own mom a hug. But atleast I got to see her.
I hope your trip to Ringwood will happen for you. 😉
Happy reading.
That’s such a beautiful picture. *.* Your daughter is adorable!!! For me, it’s diffcult to pick furniture. I’ve been looking for a couch for over a year!!
Happy readings!
Thank you Tania. She is the best. But I’m biased! LOL!
Picking furniture is definitely very hard.. we’ve lived here for almost a year and we’ve only now picked it out.
Happy reading.
I am glad you had fun with your family. And yay to new furniture. Don’t you hate the waiting time they take to deliver?
Stay home and safe, Maureen.
Ugh yes.. the delivering time sucks. But on the other hand I’m glad they are delivering. A view weeks ago everything was on lockdown and orders weren’t even possible.
Happy reading Gayathri.
How exciting to be able to buy your new couch. When we are home so much, we like having things we love around us.
Your little girl is growing up so fast! So cute.
Enjoy your visits in the upcoming weeks. I haven’t had any yet. Our restrictions are tougher, in this senior residence. It will be a while before we can have hair styling. Sigh.
Enjoy your week and stay safe.
So true.. I definitely enjoy looking at our new stuff. 😀
And yes, our girl is growing so fast. She is talking like crazy now too. LOL!
I hope you’ll be able to have visitors soon Laurel.
Happy reading.
Ah, your little girl is adorable! The zoo is a great place to go right now I think. I got Hard to Handle this week as well. Can’t wait on that one! Hope you have a great week!
Lisa Loves Literature
Ah thanks. 😉 The Zoo has definitely been great. There’s lots of room to walk and she can play at different play yards. It’s been great.
I also can’t wait to dive into Hard To Handle.
Happy reading.
Ooh yum! Hard to Handle looks really good. Hope you enjoy it.
Thanks. I can’t wait to start reading that on.
Happy reading.
Enjoy your visit 🙂
Thanks.
Your little girl is so lovely! I’m glad you are enjoying your vacation. Take care and stay well!

Thanks Anne. Our vacation is definitely great so far.
Happy reading.
Omigosh, she is so adorable!!! Love her little face with that ice cream! Lol.
Nice new reads too! All new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
LOL! Cute right?! She is definitely something else.
Stay safe and happy reading.
You’re little one looks adorable. Glad to hear the vacation is going great and I hope the next week is too:)
Thanks Laura. So far this week has been great too.
Happy reading.
Your little girl is so adorable. She’s obviously a fan of ice cream. 🙂 Hooray for the new furniture… that’s always exciting. I still need a haircut and some color but I’m not ready for the salon yet. Too much close contact for me to feel good about.
LOL! Yes, she loves ice cream.
You definitely need to do what feels good for you Tanya. 😉
Happy reading.
She looks so sweet! Ice-creams and always a hit. 🙂
I really need a hair cut! I always used to have long hair but I got it cut to about collar-bone length about 18 months ago and have kept it there ever since and loved it for convenience sake. I don’t want to grow it out again but with lockdown, it’s waaay past my shoulders and I’m losing my temper! lol
LOL! I hope you’ll be able to go to the hairdresser soon.
Happy reading.
