My name is Maureen, I’m 33 years old and I live with my husband and our two beautiful kids in The Netherlands. As long as I can remember my life has been filled with books and stories. I grew up with my mom and it was just the two of us for a long time. But we were never really just ‘with the two of us’. Our house has been filled with books and bookshelves and the books never stopped coming. I grew up reading everything I could put my hands on from ‘Mathilda’ and ‘James and the Giant Peach’ by Roald Dahl, till all the Harry Potter books and the Twilight series. So growing up I’ve have been in all sorts of different worlds. I used books as an escape when things got tough but I also used books to find my peace and somehow grew in the woman I am today.
Now that I’m older I still love the Harry Potter and the Twilight books but now I also enjoy the Bridgerton Books by Julia Quinn, the From Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, the Tattered and Torn series by Catherine Cowles and every single book by Samantha Young and Elsie Silver. I just really love books and reading is such a big part of me. So when my husband and I moved in together thirteen years ago I took all my books with me and slowly on our home also grew full with books.
I have been reading my books in English ever since I was twelve years old. I remember waiting until the next Harry Potter book came out and when it finally did the book was in English. I was so disappointed that I had to wait longer and that everyone (that’s at least what I thought at the time) but me would know what would happen with Harry. That’s when I asked my mom if I could get the book in English. Even though at the time I didn’t understand every word, I’ve read the whole book in English and never stopped reading in English after that.
