He’s a cynical, world-weary Londoner. She’s a shy Scot. They might seem like opposites, but a few weeks in the Highlands will bring them together in ways they can’t imagine…
Theo Cavendish is the second son of a British viscount, and he’s spent years running from the aristocratic world he grew up in. Betrayal and loss taught him lessons he’s not quick to forget. As an award-winning screenwriter and creator, Theo prefers to throw himself into the world of film and television. He moves from one project to another, never really letting anyone truly know him.
As a housekeeper at the exclusive Ardnoch Estate, shy Sarah McCulloch feels invisible most days. No one really knows her, and they definitely don’t know she’s a bestselling crime writer. She dreams of seeing her series on screen and believes only one person can develop it for television. On the day she quits the estate for good, she shares her secret with club member, Theo, and asks him to consider her books.
Sarah never expected him to say yes or to show up on her doorstep ready to write with her. Or that weeks spent locked up in her cottage would lead them to form an intense but undeniable connection. A bond that Theo is not sure he’s ready to accept, even though he can’t bear to be without her.
However, when they finally venture out of their bubble, Theo finds he’ll have to battle more than his own demons to protect Sarah from hurt. For he has another fan, one intent on bringing the darkest elements of his most famous script to life. And unless he can figure out this real-life antagonist’s next move, Theo could be in danger of losing Sarah forever.

If I had to name one book I’ve been looking forward to in 2024, it would have been ‘Through the Glen’. I love Samantha Young’s writing, and ever since I read about Theo Cavendish in one of the previous books, I was so curious about his story. So when the ARC arrived on my kindle, I dived right in.

In ‘Through the Glen’ we read the story of Theo and Sarah. Theo is an arrogant son of a British viscount who spends his days writing screenplays and enjoying the woman that surround him. There aren’t many people that get close to Theo, and things rarely shock him. But one evening, Theo finds Sarah, the shy housekeeper at Ardnoch Estate, standing in front of his room. Sarah tells him she is a bestselling crime writer and she wants him to help make her series come to the screen. At first Theo sends Sarah away, but shortly after reading her books he decides he wants to be the one to make her written world come to life. And from the moment Theo and Sarah start to spend more time together, there is this bond between them that is hard to deny. But the last thing Theo wants are the feelings Sarah stirs up in him. But at the same time he doesn’t seem to be able to be apart from her.

This book was right from the start a hit for me! Before I started reading I had no clue how Samantha would be able to make a character like Theo likeable. He just seemed to be so arrogant, a bit cruel, not to kind to woman and a huge womanizer. But half way through the book I honestly loved the guy. There was so much more to his character than we first get to see. And the chemistry between him and Sarah was amazing. I honestly didn’t want to stop reading!

What I loved the most about ‘Through the Glen’ was how Sarah and Theo where from two completely different world. On paper they shouldn’t have been together at all. But from the moment they start spending time together they started to change each other. They where definitely better together than apart and I loved it. Theo gave Sarah the confidence to be herself, and Sarah helped Theo be more human again. The romance made me swoon for sure.

Another thing I loved was how Theo and Sarah spend a lot of time writing together. It was such a fun part of the book. I loved how they shared thoughts and ideas and how they worked together. I honestly wanted to start writing myself when I read about the fun they had. (If only I had more fantasy!!)

‘Through the Glen’ was a wonderful read. I loved being back in the Highlands series and I definitely didn’t want to stop reading. Although this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. And now I definitely can’t wait to read the fourth book about Sarah’s cousin!
