Cocktail waitress Khara Thomas never expected to trade the dazzling lights of Vegas for European aristocracy but as maid of honour in the royal wedding of the decade she’s forced into an unexpected spotlight when her best friend marries a prince. Luckily for Khara, gorgeous but infuriating best man Adam Hatton is happy to show her the ropes. Khara knows Adam’s entitled rich guy type but as their connection grows she realises there’s more to this playboy than meets the eye. And when she learns his royal secret? She might just find that fairytales do come true…

When I saw the cover of ‘My Best Friends Royal Wedding’ on Netgalley, I simple couldn’t not request a review copy. I love stories about royals and this one just sounded like a lot of fun. So when I got approved to read this book I couldn’t be more excited. The reviews of this book have been both good and bad. And I was determined to read this book myself.

In ‘My Best Friends Royal Wedding’ we meet waitress Khara. Khara has been living in a trailer for her whole life. She knows what is to not have a lot of money, but she is proud of what she has accomplished and enjoys working hard. When Khara is invited to her best friend’s wedding to a royal. She is both happy for her friend, but also scared about all the things she doesn’t know about etiquette. And when she meets a friend of the groom who seems to be this infuriating rich playboy her trip to another country seems to be going downhill fast. But slowly on she starts to find out there is more to Adam than meets the eye.

Since the reviews of this book are all over the place, I was a little scared this read would be disappointing but I must say it didn’t disappoint me at all. The beginning of this book was a little slow, it really took me a while to really get into this story and to start liking the characters. But the further I got in the book, the better it became.

What I loved most about this book was the character development. In the beginning I thought I wouldn’t like Adam’s character for example. If there is one thing I don’t like it is a playboy.. so I was a little worried about Adam. But luckily we started to see glimpses of the ‘real’ Adam and in the end he was a character I really liked.

The chemistry between Adam and Khara was fun too. There was a lot of buildup and I really enjoyed there interactions and chemistry. In the end there was some confusing stuff with an ex of Khara that I didn’t get at all.. but it all ended up pretty good and I truly enjoyed this read.

Once upon a time, Romy dreamed of one day living inside one of the fairy tales in her head. But she grew up in Durban, South Africa – not exactly the sort of place where fairy tale princesses grow up. It took the help of a great many fairy godmothers, the slaying of a few dragons, and not nearly enough pretty glass shoes, for Romy to eventually became the princess she’d always dreamed of being. As a 2016 finalist for the Romance Writers of America® RITA Award for her novel Not a Fairy Tale, and Chairperson of ROSA (Romance writers Organisation of South Africa), all of Romy’s dreams have come true. She is not only a multi-published author, but as a writing coach and teacher, she now helps make other writers’ dreams come true too. Though Romy’s heart lies in Europe, she doesn’t cope well with the cold, so she lives in sunny South Africa, in the City of Gold, Johannesburg, where she is mom to two little princesses and a pet dragon (okay, he’s a bearded dragon, but that still counts!) Romy writes contemporary fairy tale romances and short 1920s historical romances. She loves country music, travel, and musical theatre (she’s a die-hard Fansie!). Her favourite authors range from Christina Lauren and Melanie Harlow to Kelly Hunter and Charlaine Harris, JD Robb, Katherine Kerr, Mary Stewart and Georgette Heyer.
