GoodreadsI never saw him coming.
I didn’t know what would happen after my client found me sleeping in my car.I’d been cleaning his house as his wife was dying.I didn’t expect them to invite me to live with them.I didn’t expect Suzie to become my lifeline—until she was gone.
I didn’t expect him to ask me to marry him when he found out I needed medical insurance.
I didn’t expect to fall in love with a grieving man.
There are so many reasons to keep my distance from Zach. Every tender moment secreted away.
When we’re not together, I miss the man I call husband. Does he miss his wife? If so, which one?
When I read the book description of ‘Before Us’, I was immediately fascinated by the story. It sounded so original and different than any book I read. So when I received an ARC, I was super excited and started reading as soon as I could.
Some books you read and you love them, but they fade away a bit after a little while. And others you start reading, and you immediately know they are going to stay with you for a very very long time. ‘Before Us’ is definitely that kind of book for me. From the moment I started reading about Emersyn I loved her. Emersyn is one of those people who never had anyone in their corner. But she never gave up. And she always kept on working, and not complaining. I was and still am completely in aww of her.
When Emersyn meets the wife of one of her clients, they soon become friends. They have this intense connection that was lovely to read. And I loved every moment of meeting and getting to know these two and their special friendship. And then there is Zach. He is definitely the kind of man you can easily fall in love with. Hardworking, funny, handsome and really caring. And when his life gets turned upside down, he finds a way to keep going.
‘Before Us’ is such a touching, heartbreaking but also heartwarming story that I couldn’t put down. I honestly didn’t expect to love this book al that much, but in the end I would have given it 10 stars. It was just amazing. And even days after finishing it, I’m still thinking about Emersyn and Zach.
I loved how this book left me feeling so many different emotions. And the feeling that is staying with me is how grateful I am to the authors description of soulmates. I haven’t lost a soulmate, but I recently lost my (bonus)dad and I feel comforted about the way this author made sense of losing someone.
‘Before Us’ is definitely a book I would recommend. It’s romantic, touching, sad and at times really funny.
