About the Book:
When twenty-five-year-old Pru Anderson—braless,
pajama-clad, and clutching her cat, Chuck—is rescued from her burning Los
Angeles apartment, the thing that scares her most is meeting the neighbors. New
people make her hide in the bathroom, counting by sevens, but when her home is
destroyed, she must turn strangers into friends … or crawl back to the
controlling parents she only recently escaped.

destroyed, she must turn strangers into friends … or crawl back to the
controlling parents she only recently escaped.
What would her idol, Pepper Hathaway, do? That’s a no
brainer: the detective-slash-supermodel heroine from Pru’s favorite TV series
would take no prisoners while looking fierce in a tankini and stilettos. So
when the chance comes up to live with playwright Ellen, Pru sets aside her
fears and goes for it.

Thus begin the adventures of a girl who’s never had a
job, a friend, or a first kiss. Swept into Ellen’s whirlwind life, Pru begins
to build her own, as director’s assistant for a new play, muse to brooding
actor Blake, and possible love interest to adorably neurotic neighbor, Adam.

Only one thing can derail Pru’s exhilarating journey. Well, actually, it’s two
things—and they’re in a car headed straight for LA to torpedo her life. When
the past that nearly destroyed her comes calling, who will she be: a Prudence
or a Pepper?

My Review:
From the moment I first read about ‘Just Pru’, I just
knew I wanted to read that book. So when I got the email saying I would be a
part of the blog tour I was super excited. This book just sounded like
something I would love and I couldn’t wait to start reading it. And just look
at that beautiful cover. If this book was lying in the store I would definitely
have picked it up just because of the cover.

From the very first page ‘Just Pru’ was a book that
completely pulled me in. In ‘Just Pru’ we meet Pru Andersen, a twenty five year
old who isn’t like everyone else. Pru doesn’t talk to many people and she has
these anxieties that keep her hidden from the world. So when Pru meets her
neighbor Ellen and is sort of trapped into moving in with her, her life begins
to change forever. Although Pru hasn’t got many life experiences, she watched a
lot of television and that’s how Pru knows how some things go. With her
favorite TV character Pepper Hathaway, in mind Pru slowly starts a new
life.

This book was just so much fun to read. I couldn’t stop
reading. Pru is this amazing girl, who has lived a very sheltered life. Her
parents tried to keep her away from the real world so all she really knows are
the things she saw on TV. Although I don’t really have anxiety, I felt myself
connect with Pru. She doesn’t like big crowds, mean either, she doesn’t know
how to respond to very outspoken people, most times I don’t either and she
doesn’t really know how to make friends.

The journey Pru went through in this book was just very
interesting to read and I would find myself cheering for Pru, when she made
these little progresses.

Anne Pfeffer’s writing style is very easy to follow and
she was able to create this amazing character, who isn’t perfect but was just
very real. I also really loved the other characters in this book. Pru’s
neighbor Ellen, who took care of Pru when she had no one and was this very
patient and kind person. Adam, the guy next door with his own anxieties but
found a way to life with them. And even Blake, this very arrogant actor who
really just was a little too much at times.

Pru’s parents where very overprotective of Pru. And
although I found it horrible how they stopped Pru from having a life of her
own, and who down talked her every step of the way.. Anne Pfeffer was able to
make me even like them a little near the end of the book. (That’s very
impressive!)

‘Just Pru’ really blowed my mind. And I know for sure
that I will be thinking of this book for a long, long time. This book deserves
to be up on a bestseller list. It really was that good!
