Love Stories: A Novella Collection

As a big fan of Samantha Young, I’ve read a lot of her books. (And I plan on reading all her books!) So when I read that there was a new collection coming I got super excited. Although I’m not necessarily a fan of novellas, because I just love longer stories, I do love Samantha’s ...KEEP READING »

There with You (Adair Family, #2)

After reading the first book in the Adair family series I knew this was a series I wanted to read every single book from. I mean wow.. what a great start to a new series!

So when I received the ARC of ‘There With You’, book two in the series, I couldn’t wait to start reading and I dived in as soon as possible.

In ‘There With You’ we read the story of Regan and Thane. Regan has come to Scotland to make things right with her sister. A lot has happened these last two years and it’s time to be brave and make things better. After catching up with her sister, Regan realizes she really wants to stay in a Scotland to be with her sister. So it’s time to get a job. Luckily her sisters fiancé’s brother lives next door and is looking for a nanny.

Thane is in desperate need of a nanny for his two kids. After being a widow for a few years and trying to do it himself, he needs help. When Thane meets Regan he first things she is way too young and untrustworthy to be a nanny. But he decides to give it a try. And soon he realizes there is so much more to Regan then meets the eye.

From the moment I started reading ‘There With You’ I didn’t want to stop. I was just hooked from the very first page. Regan’s character is definitely different, and I really wanted to know more about her. She seems a bit shallow and selfish at first, but we get to see the real Regan soon enough and I must say I loved her. I loved how she tried to make up for her mistakes, and how she wasn’t afraid of change. An admirable trait in my book.

Thane character was one I loved right from the start. He is widowed, and taking care of his two kids himself. And I loved him as a dad. He definitely was swoon worthy, and I couldn’t read enough about him. I loved the fact we get to read this book from both his and Regan’s point of view. I simple loved being in Thane’s head a bit.

The chemistry between Regan and Thane was amazing right from the start. And I just completely swooned over them. Regan is a lot younger though, and Thane is sure she is way too young for him. It was really fun to read how he tried to tell himself to stay away from her. And really.. who cares about the age difference? I loved those two and was really rooting for them from the start. Luckily we get to read a lot of sweet and thrilling moments between them.

I loved how this story was a bit different than usual. A widow with two kids, it made for an interesting story. But this read wasn’t only romantic.. it also kept me sitting on the edge of my seat with suspense. Amazing!!

Since the first book was about the oldest Adair brother, and Regan’s older sister, we get to read a bit about those characters in this book as well. I loved that! And we also read about the other Adair siblings, which really made me want to read their story too. You can easily still read this book as a standalone, but I love the fact I know the first story too.

This book was definitely another great book in the series and another 5 star read for sure. I so need to get my hands on paperbacks of this series. I can’t wait to read more books about the Adair family.

Ember In The Heart (Novella)

If you are a Samantha Young newsletter subscriber, you get send a novella every once in a while. Don’t you just love that? I rarely read novellas, since they always make me wish for more. But since I was waiting for a new book to arrive that I wanted to start reading immediately, I thought it was the perfect moment to read this novella.

In ‘Ember In The Heart’ we read about Ember Bonet and Foster Darwin. Ember is happily single, and owns her own shop. Foster has a successful business and is a single dad. As a single dad, Foster wants to make sure his little girl gets the best in life. To do that he wants to make sure he makes his own father proud. And he really doesn’t think much of Ember, a woman in her thirties with a eccentric taste in clothes.

Although Ember immediately finds Foster very attractive, he is very unkind, arrogant and above all very young. He definitely doesn’t seem to be that mature and when he shares his prejudiced thoughts about Ember to his friend, which Ember accidentally hears.. Ember is determined to stay away from the guy. Unfortunately he bought the house next to Ember.

This novella had a Pride and Prejudice kind of feel about it, and I really enjoyed it. It was a fun, romantic, short read and I loved the characters. Normally I always feel like novellas are to short, and they keep me wanting more. The funny thing with this novella was I didn’t even feel like this story was too short. It almost felt like a normal read, and I didn’t feel like I got to little time with the characters at all.

The chemistry between Ember and Foster was really fun to read about. They have this pretty big age gab between them, but it didn’t feel like that at all. I loved how Ember cared for Foster’s little girl and how they slowly grew closer. There where some pretty sexy moments between these two and I found myself reading this without pause.

This novella really was a fun short story. It definitely made me determined to read the other novellas Samantha Young send us newsletter subscribers lately.

Here With Me (Adair Family, #1)

When I first read about Samantha Young’s new series the Adair Family, I got super excited. I love Samantha’s books and this book sounded really good. Add a gorgeous cover and I couldn’t have been more excited to start reading. Luckily for me, I’m part of Samantha’s Review team and received the ARC a few weeks before the book would come out and I started reading immediately.

In ‘Here With Me’ we meet Robyn. Robyn is a twenty eight year old who decided to travel to Scotland, to visit her dad who she hasn’t seen in years. Robyn’s father Mac is the head of security of ex-Hollywood actor Lachlan Adair who owns an exclusive club at his family’s land. When Robyn and Lachlan meet they instantly dislike each other. Robyn blames Lachlan for making her dad leave her behind, and Lachlan is sure Robyn is there to hurt Mac. But soon they’ll have to get along because there is trouble lurking.

This book was from the start one I couldn’t put down. I loved getting to know the different characters and the setting in Scotland. I always enjoy romance stories about Hollywood stars and this one was no exception. The two main characters Robyn and Lachlan, which point of views we both read throughout the book, couldn’t have been more different. But that was definitely what made it fun to read. Robyn, a strong independent woman who left her job as an police officer to pursue a career in photography and reconnect with her father. Lachlan, an ex-Hollywood star with trust issues, who wants nothing more than to protect his family and make something from the land he owns.

Although Robyn and Lachlan really don’t like each other, there is this instant chemistry between them that is flying of the pages. And I enjoyed how they both fought hard to resist this intense connection.

But what made this book really fun and a five star read in my opinion, was the combination of romance, family bonding and suspense. Someone is trying to hurt Lachlan, and the people he cares about. And Robyn is determined to figure out who it is. I just couldn’t stop reading and was desperate to find out what was going to happen next.

Throughout this read we also read a little bit about the other Adair siblings, and I honestly can’t wait to read their story as well. The Adairs sure are a fascinating family I’m dying to learn more about.

‘Here With Me’ is a great start to a new series and I couldn’t put it down. The romance is as great as we got to expect of Samantha Young and the suspense kept me guessing and sitting on the edge of my seat. Loved it!!

Much Ado About You

Those who know me, already know I’m a big Samantha Young fan. I love all her books, and I’ve read a lot of them these last few years. And now I’m lucky enough to be on her ARC team. So when I received the ARC for ‘Much Ado About You’ I got super excited and started reading as soon as I could.

In ‘Much Ado About You’ we meet thirty three year old Evie. Evie is done with men and dating, after her last date disaster. And when she doesn’t get the job offer she worked so hard for, she decides it’s time to get away for a while. So when she looks up possible trips to England, and sees the opportunity of a life time: an apartment for four weeks including running a small town bookstore, she can’t resist and books immediately. Soon Evie is in England, and she instantly loves the little town and it’s residents. And especially Roane Robson, the handsome farmer she meets soon after arriving and who makes everything more fun.

This book was something else, really! I mean Roane Robson.. OMG!! That guy ruined me!! From the moment Evie met Roane, I simple loved that guy. He was handsome, honest, fun and caring. And although he knew he is a handsome guy, he really doesn’t want people to be interested in him just for his looks. And right from the moment he meets Evie, it’s clear he likes her. And I loved reading how he did his best, to make Evie like him too.

And yes, I also loved Evie’s character. I would definitely like to be friends with her. She loves books, loves Shakespeare, and is now running a bookstore. As a reader and book blogger.. What’s not to like about her? And don’t even get me started about the chemistry between Evie and Roane! It was definitely something you could feel coming of the pages. And I loved every slow burning moment between them.

This book was 380 pages long, and I read it in only a day. I read way past my bed time, because I just couldn’t put it down. I loved the main characters, I loved the small England town and it’s residents and I loved the whole idea of this Much Ado About Books bookstore. And can you believe there is such a Bookstore/apartment renting concept in Scotland? I loved that Samantha was inspired by that bookstore, and wrote this beauty of a book.

‘Much Ado About You’ is a great romantic, entertaining, fun read I loved from start to finish. And I’d really recommend it!!
