A woman finds safety in the one man she hurt the most.
Sheriff of Teton County, Carey Michaels, puts everyone else's needs before his own—always—but when his ex-best friend shows up in his life again, with a ten-year-old daughter and a mountain of problems in tow, he has to decide if he can handle his heart being broken.
Again.
Francesca Morris feels safer back in her Wyoming hometown, and her daughter Grace is certainly safer than she was in Texas, but the threat in their lives lingers, even in Wisper. The boy she used to love wants to protect her, but doubts and insecurities hit hard, and Frannie can't stand to hurt Carey again, even if he is the big bad sheriff. Carey’s all M.A.N. now, and he never leaves home without his handcuffs, but it isn’t locks Frannie’s afraid of.
It's her heart.

When I was looking for my next read I found ‘Rivers Between Us’ on my kindle. I honestly can’t even remember how I got my hands on this book, but when I read the blurb and saw that cover, I knew this was going to be my next read.

In ‘Rivers Between Us’ we read the story of Carey, the sheriff of Teton County and Fran Morris. Carey and Fran grew up together and where extremely close as kids. And for a long time Carey felt way more than friendship for Fran. But it was always clear to him that Fran didn’t feel the same way. One day when they where almost graduating High School, Fran leaves her family and Carey behind. Carey is broken hearted, but moves on with his life.

Then years later Fran moves back into town with her ten year old daughter. And it’s clear to Carey that Fran’s life is not what she planned for. Fran and her daughter are in danger every day, and Carey feels instantly very protective of them. But this also means he is in danger of getting his heart broken again. Because he never stopped loving his best friend.

‘Rivers Between Us’ was a read that pulled me in right from the start. Right from the start it’s clear to me that Carey and Fran have a lot of history between them. Yes they where best friends, but both have always felt more. And I loved Carey immediately. He was kind, hardworking and above all very protective of the people he loves. I was really rooting for him to get what he wanted out of life.

Fran’s character was a little harder for me to love. I liked her right away, but I just wanted her to stand up for herself more. Obviously she has a very good reason for doing things the way she does. But I just was so sad for her. Her life the last few years have been horrific at times. Luckily Carey finds a way into her heart again and I was excited to read how their relationship developed.

‘Rivers Between Us’ was a fun read. Some things move a bit fast and the way Fran’s family was able to control her felt a bit farfetched to me at times. But overall I had a lot fun with these characters. This was my first Rose Greta West read and I’m definitely looking forward to read more books by her.

About Greta Rose West

Internationally bestselling author of The Cade Ranch Series, Greta Rose West, was a floundering artsy flake until cowboy Jack Cade showed up, knocking on the door of her brain, pounding on it, and then he just plain kicked it down. She's a boy mom to a grown freakin' man, and she lives in NW Indiana with her husband and her two precocious kitties, Geoff Trouble and Sally Mae Midnight. When she’s not writing, she’s reading and devouring music. She enjoys indie films no one else likes, and her favorite food is Aver’s Veggie Revival pizza.
