Grant Dodge didn’t expect to find a woman sleeping in an abandoned cabin on his family ranch. Or to find her so intriguing. Unlike every other woman in town, McKenna Tate doesn’t know Grant’s a widower.

There’s no pity in the looks
she gives him. McKenna wants him, and Grant has forgotten what it’s like to
feel like a man. A no-strings fling for Christmas might be the kind of holiday
cheer Grant needs…

With only a suitcase to her name, McKenna came to Gold Valley to confront
her birth father. She didn’t plan to work at the Dodge ranch or fall for the
gorgeous cowboy who keeps his heart roped off. But there’s no denying the way
their broken pieces fit together. Hope brought her to Gold Valley—but will it
be the gift that could finally heal Grant, and McKenna’s own wounded heart?

My Review:

When I
finished reading the books I planned on reading for the HoHoHo Readathon with
some time left, I decided I wanted to read another Christmas book. So when I
saw ‘A Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas’ by Maisey Yates I immediately knew this was
the book I wanted to read. I’ve read several Maisey Yates books, and loved them
all so I couldn’t be more excited to start reading this one.
In ‘A
Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas’ we meet Grant Dodge. Grant has been living his
life in solitude for the last eight years. Working, drinking and passing out to
get some sleep.. that is how his life is and it works for him. But when he
wakes up one night finding McKenna on his property he finds himself feeling
things. And feeling things isn’t something that Grant is used too anymore. And
before he knows it, McKenna starts getting to him more and more.
Well, this
book was just perfect if you ask me. A perfect Romantic Christmas read. I loved
this book from the beginning until the very end. Grant is this grumpy guy who
has had a hard time after his wife died years ago. There isn’t anything he wants
in life other than drinking and working. He has his family, and that is more
than enough. Although he definitely was very grumpy, I loved reading about him.
There just was something about him that I really loved. And I loved reading how
he was such a good person, although he wouldn’t admit that. Him talking about
his deceased wife made me all emotional.
But my
favorite character in this book was definitely McKenna. McKenna doesn’t really
have anything in life but somehow still has hope that life will get better. And
I just loved reading about her. She was tough, very chatty and just a very fun
character to get to know. And the chemistry between McKenna and Grant was so
good to read about. I mean butterflies-in-your-tummy kind of good.
This book
would have been good without it taking place during Christmas, but that added
something extra that made this book definitely one of my favorites. Although ‘A
Tall, Dark Cowboy Christmas’ is the fourth book in the Gold Valley series, it
can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the previous books in this series,
but definitely plan on reading them soon.
