I’ve loved A.L. Jackson’s books for years now. And every time there is a new series coming, I get so excited. And this time was no exception. ‘Love Me Today’ is the first standalone book in the Time River series, and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC.

In ‘Love Me Today’ we meet Paisley Dae. After a horrible experience in the big city, Paisley decides to move back to her hometown to start over. Being back with her best friend and her grandfather makes her realize how much she missed her small town. When she learns about a new job, working with horses and a little girl, it immediately sounds perfect for her. Unfortunately this job also comes with the little girl’s grumpy dad, who makes sure to let Paisley know she is not wanted on their property. But the little girl soon charms her way into Paisley’s heart and she is determined to help her.

Caleb has come from a very different world then Paisley. His world has been surrounded by darkness and anger for years. And he is not sure how to come back from it. Now he has the responsibility of a little girl, and he is determined to keep her safe and happy. Even if that means he has to hire the one woman who makes him feel like he isn’t lost after all. He just has to make sure he stays away from her.

‘Love Me Today’ has everything I love in a book. The small town, horses, grumpy man with big hearts.. Sigh.. I loved this book. The setting is great, and I immediately      loved the small town setting. There are some side characters I’m already really curious about, and we get to read about some very fun friendships. And then there are the two main characters..

Paisley and Caleb come from very different worlds. And from the moment they meet you can feel the chemistry between them. Caleb’s character was such a grump at first, he oozes danger but Paisley makes him want to be different. And Paisley is just a burst of sunshine. She has made some mistakes in the past, and she really wants to make better choices this time around.

I loved the chemistry between Paisley and Caleb. Add some suspense that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat, and I was definitely hooked. Not to mention that adorable little girl Evelyn. I loved her.

‘Love Me Today’ was a very fun, romantic, steamy, start of a new series. And I can’t wait to read more books set in Time River.
