The second book in the beloved and globally bestselling Bridgerton Family, now a series created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix. Welcome to Anthony's story . . . 1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, This Author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London's most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better... --Lady Whistledown's Society Papers, April 1814 Anthony Bridgerton needs a wife. Having spent his twenties in a rakish pursuit of pleasure (whilst taking care to ensure the financial security of his mother and seven younger siblings and mother) he knows it's high time he settled down and ensured the continuation of the Bridgerton line. Edwina Sheffield is considered the most beautiful debutante of the current season. She is also sweet, innocent and eminently biddable - Anthony is sure she'll make a perfectly acceptable wife and vows to make her his. The only obstacle in his way is Edwina's older sister, Kate. Kate is determined to do all she can to allow her sister the chance to marry for love rather than convenience. And the roguish viscount is beginning to think he may have met his match in Kate's keen wit and sharp tongue. Until, that is, he makes the mistake of kissing her...

After reading ‘The Duke and I’ and watching Bridgerton on Netflix, I knew I wanted to read more books in the Bridgerton series. I’ve read other books by Julia Quinn in the past. So I knew I loved this author.. but I wasn’t prepared to love this series so much. I’m definitely a Julia Quinn addict now!

In ‘The Viscount Who Loved Me’ we read the story of the oldest Bridgerton brother Anthony. After Anthony’s oldest sister Daphne got married last season, Anthony now knows it’s time for him to find a wife. But he is determined to make this marriage thing work on his own terms. His wife must be pretty and smart. And he definitely doesn’t need the risk of falling in love with her. But when he finds the perfect candidate, her sister proves to be very difficult.

I was very curious about Anthony’s story. To be honest I didn’t really like his character all that much, throughout the first book, so I was excited and anxious to read more about him. And luckily this book made me like his character a lot more. Yes, he is quite arrogant and his search for a wife is rather strange. But in this story we get to know more about him.. and his love for his family makes him a lot more charming and loveable.

But my favorite character of this book was definitely Kate. She was just so much fun and she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Not even to an arrogant viscount. And I loved reading the little banters between Anthony and Kate.

Did I like this book as much as the first one? No, but it definitely came pretty close. The romance was fun  and made me want to keep on reading. And above all it made me want to read the other books in this series too.

Yes, I’m definitely addicted. I see an Amazon order in my future. LOL!!

Check out my review of the first book in the Bridgerton series here:

#1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn loves to dispel the myth that smart women don’t read (or write) romance, and and if you watch reruns of the game show The Weakest Link you might just catch her winning the $79,000 jackpot. She displayed a decided lack of knowledge about baseball, country music, and plush toys, but she is proud to say that she aced all things British and literary, answered all of her history and geography questions correctly, and knew that there was a Da Vinci long before there was a code. A graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, Ms. Quinn is one of only sixteen members of Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame. Her books have been translated into 32 languages, and she lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest. The Bridgertons, her popular series of historical romance, is also a Netflix original series starring Julie Andrews, Phoebe Dynevor, and Rége-Jean Page.
