Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up — she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan — her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

I’ve been hearing about ‘It Ends With Us’ for the last few years, and I’ve added it to my TBR almost right away. But somehow this was one of those books that I just really wanted to read, but didn’t get to. When I read there is a movie being made about this book, I knew I needed to read this one now. So when I finished my last ARC, I finally started reading.

In ‘It Ends With US’ we read the story of Lily. Lily is in her twenties and has just started her new life in Boston. It’s her dream to open her own flower shop one day and now seems like the perfect time. Than one evening she meets a handsome stranger, Ryle Kincaid. Ryle is a neurosurgeon and soon the sparks fly between them. But although Lily is smitten with Ryle, she can’t help but think about her first love Atlas. And while she reads her journals, filled with stories of Atlas and their time together, she also gets closer to Ryle.

It’s been 24 hours since I finished reading ‘It Ends With Us’, and I’m still broken up about this read. Not in a bad way! I loved this story so much, but it was also really heartbreaking. I was a little afraid this book would be about a complicated love triangle, which really isn’t my thing, but it was nothing like that. The story of Lily is beautiful, heartbreaking, confronting and above all done in a way that will make me remember this story for a long time.

What I remember from the books I read by Colleen Hoover before, is that her characters always seem to be a bit complicated and there is always more to their story than you initially thought. And in this book, it’s not any different. The characters are flawed, and so incredibly real that I felt like I got to know these characters in real life. And I’m not afraid to admit that I loved all the characters, even though some did things that where unforgivable, they where also so so human.

‘It Ends With Us’ made me cry. And not just a little tear.. Nope. I bawled my eyes out. I already own the second book and will definitely read that one soon too. But first I have to mend my heart for a moment. I can’t wait to see this book come to life as a movie.
