Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a great time celebrating the new year. We had a nice and quiet evening with just the two of us, since our little girl was asleep. I read a little, we watched some TV and ended up watching the fireworks. Which was kind of unexpected since there was a ban on any fireworks this year. Well.. let’s just say the ban didn’t work!!
This week I had my last day of work! I’m now on early maternity leave, due to some medical problems, and I couldn’t have welcomed it any more. My body was so ready to be done with going to the hospital every week, waking up super early and getting our little girl ready to go before 06.30 a.m. Now I can take it easy, listen to my body, spend time with our little girl and get everything ready for our baby boy. I treated my colleagues to some cookies on my last day as you can see here. LOL!!
On the first day of January we cleaned our home from all the Christmas stuff. Isn’t funny how much you look forward to getting everything nice and beautiful for Christmas.. and then just a few weeks later you can’t wait to throw everything out? LOL!! I love how clean everything is now.
This weekend we’re taking things slow since my husband gets back to work on Monday. I set my Goodreads challenge for 2021. Let’s see how I’ll manage with a little baby around. LOL! And I hope to do some blogging ahead this weekend.
How has your week been? Any new year’s resolutions?

I am glad you finally are on maternity leave and can get some rest. Hopefully the rest of your pregnancy will go smoothly. We had a quiet New Year’s celebration too. My little one (who isn’t so little anymore) stayed up well past midnight. She’s making a habit of it during her winter break. I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Especially since she has to go to bed on time tomorrow to be up for school on Monday . . . Wish me luck!
I hope you enjoy you reading and have a great week, Maureen.
Thank you. Yes, I’m really happy my leave has started now. I’ve been counting down the days really.
Yikes.. I hope your daughter was able to get to bed on time. These crazy holiday weeks really are bad for your rhythm right?!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Yes, I so agree with the clean up pressure after a festive season. I will take a look at your reading challenge on Goodreads. I hope you will have a restful week ahead.
Thank you Gayathri.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m so happy for you that your maternity leave has started. I’m sure your body needs the rest. And you’re so right on the Christmas decor! We get all excited to put it all up and then in a couple weeks can’t wait to get it all packed away. 🙂
Thanks Tanya. I’m really happy about it too. It really is a relieve to be honest.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Happy new year! =D I hope you will have a restful maternity leave.
Happy readings!
Happy New Year Tania. So far so good 😉
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m glad you’re finally on maternal leave, I was reading your posts along the week and felt you really needed it, so yay ! Enjoy that book haul, your family, take some time for yourself, finally 🙂
Thank you Iza. Yes, I was so ready for my leave to start.
Thanks for visiting my posts. 😉
Happy reading.
Sounds like you had a good week. That’s good to hear you’re on maternity leave now, I hope you can take it easy listen to your body and spend time with your daughter. The ban on fireworks didn’t work here either, but it was a lot quieter than normal and that made it easier to focus on those that had some pretty fireworks. I hope you have a good week!
Thank you Lola. I’ll definitely try to relax as much as possible.
Good to hear that it was quieter with fireworks on your end. We honestly didn’t notice a difference. It seemed to be just as much as last year.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I am so glad that you are now able to get the rest you need with maternity leave! I got the sense that you were struggling before Christmas and having had sciatica throughout my second pregnancy, I know only too well just how miserable back issues can be…
I hope you get a chance to put your feet up and decompress after Christmas:)).
Thank you Sarah. It has definitely been a challenge getting to work these last few weeks.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Oh didn’t know you were expecting again! Congrats! I remember your first pregnancy 🙂
I was on bed rest for my second two. Enjoy your leave and stay well!
Thank you. Yes 31 weeks tomorrow. Time flies.
OMG.. bedrest sounds horrible. Luckily we know why we do it right?! I can’t wait to meet our little boy.
have a great week and happy reading.
Sounds like a good holiday! Glad you’re going to get to rest before baby boy comes along! That’s got to be exciting! We took our Christmas stuff down over New Year’s as well. A little bit on the 30th and then the tree on the 31st. It’s always a little sad for me. Everything looks so boring once it’s back to normal. Lol.
Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
Taking down the Christmas decorations has definitely two sides. I love it, but I also really love Christmas and I’m sad that the holiday is already over. LOL! And I totally agree with you about things looking boring now. :D:D
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m so happy to know you will be able to rest and get ready now. We only decorated our tree on Christmas Eve so we aren’t quite ready to let it go. Happy New Year!
