Life:
This week
I finally had my long awaited week long vacation. I had been desperately
waiting for this week and I had everything planned, and more importantly ‘not’
planned. But unfortunately Sunday afternoon I started having pain in my throat,
and on Monday morning I woke up with a massive cold. And no, not one that you
can easily put aside and start your day as planned.. Nope.. I couldn’t hear on
the left side, I had a massive headache, I couldn’t get enough tissues and I
felt really weak. Blegh.. Since Monday was the one day I hadn’t planned
anything, I decided to spent most of the day in bed. Which was kind of fun
because I re-watched ‘You’ve Got Mail’, ‘101 Dalmatians’, and several Gilmore Girls episodes. It’s been
a long time since I got to watch so much tv and just hang.

a long time since I got to watch so much tv and just hang.
On Tuesday
I decided I definitely wasn’t staying in bed all week, and I wanted to continue
doing what I planned. So I took my tissues, some paracetamol and several other
cold medicine and waited on the arrival of one of my colleagues who came to
help prep some stuff for our upcoming wedding.

That
evening I went to the new home of one of my girlfriends, and together with
another girlfriend we had a nice dinner. But in the end I wasn’t feeling all
that well, and went home early. But at least I did go.

Wednesdayit was my fiancés birthday. Just like every year he had to work, and I planned
a nice dinner. I made a shrimp cocktail as a starter, and then I made spinach
with potatoes and a nice steak, and as dessert I made a Jamie Oliver Double Chocolate
Brownie. It worked out great, and my Boyfriend really enjoyed his dinner. We
had a great evening that went by way to fast.
Thursday I
had another free day, and since my cold was still very bad and somehow I felt
worse than Wednesday I had a reading day. I didn’t do much else than read the
entire day. It was perfect and really what I needed.

Friday I
went to Amsterdam with my mom and grandma. We did some shopping and my mom
bought her outfit for our upcoming wedding. She looked really beautiful and was
so excited. We had a nice lunch at a Sushi restaurant my grandma really
wanted to go too. And it was really nice and tasty. The day went by way to fast, but it was a good one.

Saturday my fiancé and I went to his cousin in Maastricht. My fiancé helped
with some chores in his cousins new home, while I went out on my own and into
the city. Maastricht is a beautiful, cozy city and has the most amazing
bookstore. It’s located in a church, and although I’d been there before it
still amazed me how beautiful it was. In the afternoon I brought sandwiches
back to my fiancé and his cousin and we had a nice lunch. It was another fun
day.

Books & Blogging:
I planned
on reading much more this week than I managed in the end. But with my cold, and
all the other stuff that I planned I didn’t get as much reading time as I
wanted. And blogging wise I also didn’t get everything done. But
I planned some days in the upcoming weeks to blog, and hopefully I can get
everything sorted out before my three week break in May.

How awful to be sick on your vacation and what a mean bug to wait until the first day to really show up! It's good that you were able to do some fun things and get some rest in! Your fiance's birthday sounds really special and I'm curious about the double chocolate brownie. I don't think I've ever made one of Jamie Oliver's recipes. That bookstore is just ridiculous!
