This week our government declared another lockdown for the upcoming five weeks due to increasing numbers of COVID19 infections. So on Tuesday all venues such as shops, museums, theatres, amusement parks, zoos, casinos, saunas, indoor sporting venues, and establishments serving food and drink where closed. And people have to work from home as much as possible. Since I still work at a hospital until my maternity leave, I still get to go to work. For Christmas we are allowed to invite only three people in our home for the day, which was already our plan so we don’t have to change our plans. It’s definitely a strange world at the moment.. but we are making the best of it.
Luckily I was able to order almost all my Christmas dinner groceries online. With the exception for work, I won’t have to go out a lot anymore this upcoming weeks. Crazy enough the highways still look pretty busy to me. In March, when we had our first lockdown the streets where almost empty.. This is definitely not the case with this lockdown so far.
In other news, I finally found myself a very pretty journal. It’s leather, and super pretty and I can’t wait to start using it. But somehow I’m also a little reluctant to start since I don’t want to ruin it. LOL!! I’m not the only one right?
This week I received a book from a very kind lady I talked with on FB about a book exchange. She wasn’t able to take part, but she decided to send me one of her favorite reads any way.. and it arrived this week all the way from Denmark. Such a nice thoughtful thing to do! It definitely made my week.
Next week it’s obviously Christmas, which I’m still excited about, and on Sunday I will be hosting our Maureen’s Books Book Club very first live Q&A with the author K.K. Allen. She will also be doing a giveaway and I’m super excited. I’m hoping things will go right since I had some difficulties planning it on FB. So.. fingers crossed. If you read the book, or you just want to join our fun you can join here.
I hope you guys are doing well. And.. Merry Christmas my bookish friends!

Oh yes, I’m always reluctant to use new journal too in case I might spoil it 😉 We’ve just exited lockdown here in France but who knows if we won’t have our third soon… Enjoy your week and have a merry Christmas !
I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling like that. LOL!
Merry Christmas Iza.
I am the same way with new books and journals as well. I have so many unused ones already. I am sad that people don’t take the lockdown seriously. Have merry Christmas!
In the end I always start using them. But I just have to get to that point.. LOL!.
Merry Christmas Gayathri.
It sure is a strange world at the moment. We’re staying home this Christmas and hopefully can visit family again when the numbers go down a bit. I did most of my grocery shopping for next week and hopefully won’t have to go out again until after Christmas, I want to avoid any possible Christmas business in the grocery stores. That’s so sweet a fellow reader sent you one of her favorite reads. Happy holidays and I hope you have a great week!
Good for you. Going outside is definitely challenging with these people ignoring the rules. I still have to go outside due to work.. but I try to stay inside as much as possible too.
Merry Christmas Lola.
I don’t have a new journal yet, as soon as Christmas is done, I’ll go sort that out.
New set of regulations here in SA as well. But wait for it – all the BEACHES are closed and all the malls and shops are still open and business as usual. Bit ridiculous if you ask me. It’s summertime here and the one thing everyone was looking forward to, was their beach holidays.
We are also going to have a rather quiet Christmas and I’m also done with all my shopping. Presents and groceries.
May you have a wonderful and a very Merry Christmas! Take care of yourself.
Lots of Love,

Only the beaches? Really? That does sound kind of strange.
I hope you’ll have a great Christmas, even if things are very different. 😉
Merry Christmas.
I feel the same with notebooks and such! I’ve had to force myself to start a few times. I have this issue also with planners. I got a reading journal/planner recently (I meant to get just a journal, but ordered the wrong thing) and just wrote in it last night. (Nothing of note, just the title, author, and date finished!)
People around here (VA, US) are a mix of taking it serious and some not. The governor has issued some more “strict” guidelines, but they are not that much different than before.
Now gatherings are limited to 10 people instead of 25. It is also now suggested to wear masks at all times outdoors as opposed to just inside public buildings. Essentially nothing has changed.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great Christmas!
Ow yes!! Planners are the same for me too. I think I’m going to start writing with Christmas. It will be the perfect time to start I hope. 😀
Thanks for stopping by and Merry Christmas.
Yeah we’ve been in a sort of half lockdown since November 17th. Only restaurants are truly effected. Everything else that is deemed “essential” is open…which pretty much means everything but restaurants. But the neighboring counties that are 10-20 minutes away are operating as normal…but just on a reduced capacity. So it doesn’t make too much sense since everyone just drives the extra 10-20 minutes to go get a hot meal. We’ve been staying in for the most part. But we’ve relatives staying with us for the week, so it’s definitely going to be changing around here for us. Hoping we get through this holiday season okay since we weren’t able to tell the company to not come.
Nice new reads! These are new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
These are definitely challenging times. Those differents rules for different counties sound very confusing to me.
I hope you’ll still have a great Christmas and stay healthy. 😉
Merry Christmas.
Stay strong during the lockdown!! They’re not a lot of fun! Over here, in my province, they keep tightening the restrictions. We’re currently not allowed to visit any other homes! I’m glad to hear you were able to get your holiday groceries!! 🙂
It’s definitely a challenging time.
Happy reading and Merry Christmas.
I’m sorry about the lockdown. It seems like it’s happening everywhere. I hope this vaccine will help all of us and we can go back to normal.
Enjoy your books. They look good. Have a great week!
It sure is. I can’t wait for things to go back to normal.
Merry Christmas and happy reading.
It may be sad but I think a lockdown is for the best until things improve a bit. We were going to stay home anyway. Merry Christmas and the best wishes to you this holiday season.
It’s definitely the best. I totally agree.. but it’s definitely challenging at times too.
Merry Christmas Anne 😉
I’m sorry to hear about the Covid rise. It’s bad here too. And same- for as bad as it is, a lot of people seem to be out and about!
Your Q&A sounds like fun!
Have a merry Christmas!!
Yes, it’s crazy how many people are still doing like everything is okay out there. Sigh..
Have a great week and Merry Christmas.
Good luck with lockdown. I’m having Christmas with the people in my house, which is boring, but better safe than sorry. Have a great week!
Thank you AJ. Merry Christmas 😉
Your holidays sound good. I actually prefer smaller events, and I am getting used to the lockdowns. I order online for clothes, supplies, and even groceries.
Enjoy your holiday and your books.
Happy Reading Laurel. Merry Christmas 😉
I can only wish that our governor here in Florida would impose a lockdown. It would help so much. But just last week he came out and said he absolutely would not close down businesses because it was the wrong thing to do. Ugh! And now the news of a new COVID strain in England… quite scary. Glad you were able to get your groceries ordered. I do the same. Enjoy the new journal!
Sometimes a lockdown is definitely for the best. And I do think it’s best too here.. and when I see the numbers at your end of the world.. I couldn’t agree with you more about wishing a lockdown.
Merry Christmas Tanya
Covid is on a rampage! We’re dealing with a mutant strain in the UK… Not to mention no-trade deal Brexit coming up. I’m going to hide under a rock and read for the next few weeks!
I guarantee we’ll be back in lockdown before too long.
I’m exactly the same with new journals!
I hope you have a good Christmas.
Yes, I’ve definitely heard about the different strain in the UK. It has been kind of mess right?!
Have a great week and Merry Christmas.
