With only three weeks of work left before my early maternity leave from work starts.. I got the advice from my midwife to cut down my work hours. Where I first worked 8.5 hours a day, I now work max. 4 hours a day. And although I’m still struggling a bit in how to make my workload fit these hours.. my body is really welcoming it. I’ve been super tired this week too, so next to work I haven’t been able to do much more than go to bed early and take it easy.
This week I also had a very emotional coaching talk. It was a tough one, but also a good one because I really think I can do something with the advice I got. For one, I’m going to start a journal about my childhood memories. So I’ve been looking for a nice beautiful journal that makes me want to write this stuff in. And yes, I probably can use any kind of notebook. But somehow I just keep thinking I want this journal to be beautiful to look at, since it will be pretty hard for me to write down stuff I haven’t tried to think about for many years.
Reading wise I had a pretty good week. But also a little strange. I read some books, but mostly during the night when I couldn’t sleep. LOL!! This pregnancy is definitely doing crazy things with my body.
On Saturday we went to the city to get our little girl some new winter clothes and shoes. I haven’t been into the city a lot since the beginning of the Corona pandemic, and it’s still kind of strange to go there. We went super early, just to make sure it wasn’t crowded yet. And although we definitely got some great stuff for our girl, it was also kind of sad to see so many shops gone and all the restaurants and bars closed. Things will definitely never be the same I think.
This Sunday we’ve planned a nice slow day at home, and I’ve planned some blogging time so I hopefully can catch up with all of you. I hope you guys are doing well!!

Devour Me looks interesting! Hope you have a great week!!
Thanks Maura. I’m excited to read it! 😉
I’m glad your work hours have been cut down, can’t you find somebody to help you with the workload ? If it’s possible in those days and your kind of work, of course, but once you’re on maternity leave, they’ll have to deal without you. Take care and relax 🙂
Thanks Iza. Unfortunately that is definitely something that’s not really possible in my kind of work. But I can stop doing some stuff. It’s just hard as a perfectionist, I quess. 😀
Happy reading.
Oh Oh Oh – I LOVED Haven.
I am glad you cut your hours down at work – those last few months are really terrible. I – unfortunately – had to work until the Friday before I went in for my C-Section.
My Week In Books & BBH
Yikes! I can’t even imagine. I often realise how lucky we are with our healthcare system here in the Netherlands. I wont have to work for almost 6 months.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Cutting back the hours is good especially so close to due date. It will be nice when you are finally able to rest until the baby comes.
It is so sad to see lots of stores and shops closed but I do think things will find a way to be normal again, it just might take some time.
Stay Safe and get lots of rest! You are growing a human!
Have a wonderful week, Maureen! Happy Reading!
Unfortunately my due date isn’t untill March 9th. But I have to stop early because I have a risk of preterm labor. I can’t wait for my leave to start though.. I’m so tired.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading.
I agree that some things may have changed altogether. I am glad you did your shopping early and safely. Have a safe one!
Thank you. Happy reading Gayathri 😉
I’m glad your hours are being cut back. You’ve been pregnant before so you know how it is. The further along you get the more strain regular things put on your body. With both of my pregnancies, the last leg of if gave me insomnia. Supposedly it’s your body preparing for the potentially sleepless nights ahead.
It must have been nice to get out for shopping, even under such weird circumstances. I do think things will eventually return to normal, but it will take many years to get back and it won’t necessarily be the same (different shops, etc).
I hope you have a good and restful week!
Yes, I’ve heard that about it being your body’s way of preparing for the sleepless nights. Fortunately with our girl, she slept really good from the start. So good even, I had to set the alarm in the beginning because she would sleep the whole night without feeding.
Happy reading.
I’m sure you will benefit from the reduced hours, hopefully the insomnia won’t last long.
I don’t think anywhere is unchanged by the pandemic, we’ve been lucky here but it’s still taken it’s toll.
Wishing you a great reading week
I totally agree. I don’t think anyone is the same after this year.
Happy reading.
Glad you’re doing well with work life, and normal life with pregnancy during these freaky times. Hope it continues to be a smooth process for you. Yeah, I’m afraid of what things will look like after Covid. So many restaurants and small businesses are suffering with a forced shutdown. It’s incredibly saddening. I’m really hoping 2021 will make a difference.
Nice new reads too! Those are new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
2021 can only be better I think. LOL!! But it’s hard to see all those restaurants etc. struggle. We aren’t able to to a restaurant often normally.. but now that I can’t at all.. I really miss it.
Have a great week and happy reading!
I’m glad you are able to work shorter hours and get early maternity leave to take care of yourself. We just do everything as delivery or order online. I do a pickup once in awhile but I’m trying not to go out at all. It’s sad out there and worse than it needs to be if people weren’t stupid about it.

I’m definitely glad too. And I totally agree about people being stupid. It’s so frustrating.
Happy reading!
That’s good news about your hours being cut down. I’m sure your body appreciates it! I hope you find the journaling helps you.
It’s sad to see how many changes the pandemic has brought and how many businesses will likely not recover. 🙁
It’s definitely so sad. But I do think it also makes us appreciate things a little more. I know I do for sure.
Happy reading.
Things are so different now! And glad you are able to slow down a bit. That has to help, i would imagine.
Hope you guys had a good weekend. 🙂
Yes, they really are.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Having to work less seems to already be benefiting you. I am glad to hear it! You definitely don’t need to push yourself too much right now.
I love journals although I am terrible about journaling. I tend to do it rather sporadically. I hope you find one that you like and that you find journaling helpful. Sending a big virtual hug to you.
I am glad you were able to get out and do a little shopping. My daughter had a big growth spurt a few months ago and I ended up buying her a new wardrobe practically–all online. I wasn’t happy about that, but I wasn’t up to braving the stores. Most were closed any way and it’s not like they’d let her try anything on. She really needs new shoes now . . .
I hope you have a great week, Take care.
Thank you Wendy. I finally found a gorgeous journal and I can’t wait to start writing in it. But I’m scared too.. So I haven’t started yet. It’s just so pretty :D:D
Happy reading!
