This week I decided it was time to have a hard talk with myself!! (LOL) I have to stop buying books for a while, and I have to stop signing up for every book tour that sparks my interest. Boy.. I’ve been getting so many new books lately that I feel like I just can’t catch up. And well… it isn’t fun like this since I feel stressed when I see how many books I still have to read. So.. I put a unavailable for review request sign on my page, and I’m trying to only sign up for blog tours I really really like. Off course this week I didn’t get the book I was looking forward to for a long time because I apparently signed up wrong, so I had to buy that book myself. And I’ll have to buy the Maureen’s Books Book Club read, but other than that I just have to take a break. At least for a little while. Sigh..
I had to work four days in a row this week. Next week I’ll have to work Wednesday till Sunday. So I’m trying to relax and be with my family as much as possible. Summer time in the healthcare industry is always hard. There are lots of people on vacation which means we have a lot less nurses than normal. I guess that’s why I have to work so much this month. I can’t wait for September to be here.
This upcoming week we’ll be picking the Maureen’s Books Book Club read for next month. I’m super excited. I enjoyed the first book pick ‘Virgin River’ a lot. So I can’t wait to see what this months pick will be. (You can sign up for our FB page below to be able to vote!)
I hope you guys are doing well!

I had to put a stop to some of my book buying too lol so I can relate! Good luck with work and hopefully the week won’t be too busy! Love that graphic, by the way. So true hahaha!!!
Thanks Greg. LOL!! That graphic just made me happy so I had to share 😉
I totally get you, it’s so hard to say NO to good books… My current review list contains 355 books for reviews only. It’s CRAZY!
I review the list every month or so, and have to say no to some authors. For emails that I currently get, I maybe say yes to 1 out of 30.
Slowly but gradually I’m getting through the list, but I have moments when I feel stressed. I decide at that point that I’ll only read what sparks my interest. I feel bad if I said yes to an author and have to come back from that, but it’s just better for myself…
It’s definitely very hard to say no to books. Especially since I really wish I could read all of them. LOL! But I think it’s good to take a little break in buying and requesting all those books. I’ll probably not last for long.. but it will stil help for a little while.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Like you, Maureen, I am also on a book buying ban, as I already have so many great books being ignored on my shelves, because I get distracted by shiny new releases! I am making an exception for my book club though. I hope you make the most of your time of your time off with your family, between your longer shift patterns at work. Take care and happy reading! 😃
So true.. there is just so many book to read and so little time. LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading.
I just joined the book club on Facebook! That looks really fun, so I’ll be really looking forward to it.
That’s awesome Anne. I haven’t received any new requests though.. Maybe try again?! 😉
I go through stages of not buying books and then buying all the books! I think it balances out, but I love getting new books, even though I could do with not buying any for about 3 years just to catch up. Never going to happen!
LOL!! It probably won’t work, like you said. But I think I’ll have to try to just stay sane for a little while. 😉
Have a great week and happy reading.
Book buying ban…? 👀 Who is she? 😂
LOL!!! It will probably work for a week.. But I have to try it one time! :D:D
Oh, I can relate! This was SUPPOSED to be the year of reducing my TBR – and yet I keep requesting books from Netgalley – AND buying more books! I’ll never read them all in my lifetime… Can I stop? Nope! I hope you find your work commitments eases down soon – maybe as the weather cools down, people stop hurting themselves outdoors?? Have a good week.
I quess Covid doesn’t really help either. I mean we have to keep busy somehow right?! LOL!!
Happy reading.
I loved reading Virgin river and I will be posting the review soon. But other than the one, I fairly avoided buying books in the past two months. So yay us!
Good to hear Gayathri. I hope you’ll join our discussion too 😉
Have a great week and happy reading.
It is so hard to say “no” to books. I took the decision of no longer joining book tours because so many books! I did not have time to read everything.
Happy readings!
I totally get that. But I do love joining Blog Tours, so I just try to manage it better now. We’ll see how it goes I guess. 😉
Happy reading.
i didn’t buy a single book this week. Ever so proud of myself. But yes, maybe we need to take a break from buying, reviewing, book touring etc, every now and then. I think we appreciate our acquired books just a bit more.
Take care of yourself!

I’m also proud of you Mareli. That’s an achievement. 😉
Happy reading.
I had the same talk with myself. LOL My talk was mostly about not signing up for every book tour that interests me (almost all of them interest me). Hopefully I listen to myself 🙂 Have a great week!
LOL!! I totally know what you mean!! There are just so many great tours out there.
Happy reading.
I’m trying really hard not to sign up for as many book tours either. I have had to learn to work a balance between ebooks and audios too. I look forward to September because the weather will cool down a little. In the pharmacy, things really picked up and they increased our hours in Sept. (flu shots, more viruses, colds, etc).
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I’m definitely ready for September too.. I just love Fall deco. 😀
Happy reading.
Since I’ve came back from my hiatus that’s the one thing I’ve done differently, I always felt like I need to sign up for everything, I’m learning to say no which is difficult.
Have a good week.
That’s impressive Heather. I really hope to be able to learn that too.
Happy reading.
It’s so easy to get carried away!
I hope your work situation improves sooner rather than later.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae!
I don’t have a book ban. My last bought book was The Book of Bunny Suicides Book by Andy Riley 8 or 10 years ago, and I share my wife’s library. I support you sweetheart. It is always nice to read your Sunday post. xx hub
LOL!!! And it has a proud spot on my shelf 😉 (L) you
Yeah, I’ve always been picky about what tours I want to join as well, or what other review books to request or receive. When they all start happening around the same time, it’s completely overwhelming. So even for some of those easy download nows, I have to ask myself, on the scale of 1-10 how desperately do you want to read this one? Truly? Like is this one you’re even on the fence about and would be sad to buy? And go from there! Lol. Those can be long conversations with myself, it’s a good thing I get along with myself…for the most part! Lol.
Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them! Glad you’re doing what you need to do in order to enjoy your books. Sometimes we have to do things like that with ourselves. My TBR pile overwhelms me too…which is probably why I have it stashed away in so many spots in the house, so that I can’t be over-overwhelmed by it all at once! Lol.
Happy Reading!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
LOL!! That made me laugh. But such a great advice. I should totally talk a little more to myself. I’m just always sign up in my enthusiasm.
Happy reading.
It’s so easy to buy All The Books! And so hard to stop. I’m definitely buying Colleen Hoover’s new release Heart Bones this week but after that I should be good for a while. Maybe… 🙂
Whahaha.. I always think like that. But then I see another release and I’m just a goner.
Happy reading.
