Another week has flown by, and I’ve been busy trying to catch up with all the blogging stuff. Last weekend I went on a trip to the beach with one of my girlfriends. It was the first time I spend a night away since our little girl was born two years ago. And it was great! We had a great time! It was really hot here, so the beach was amazing. Reading, swimming, talking, laughing, sleeping, having a nice meal.. Boy.. It was so good to just relax and not be in mom-mode for a little while.
After our weekend trip I was exhausted. I spend Monday playing with our little girl, catching up on some laundry and just relaxing.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I had to work. It was my birthday on Thursday so I brought some sweets with me to work. It was a fun day, but I mostly ignored the whole ‘it’s my birthday’ bit. I always feel so uncomfortable on my birthday and always feel kind of sad. Not because of the age thing.. I really don’t care about being 31. But I just always feel a little down on my birthday.
At night the husband, little girl and I ordered some dinner so I didn’t have to cook. Unfortunately it was terrible. Definitely the worst! We hardly were able to eat anything.
Reading wise it has been a good week. I’ve been trying to get ahead of my reading so I can start reading ‘Midnight Sun’. Blogging wise I’ve been catching up on my emails and trying to visit all of you guys. But let me tell you.. This hot weather is not good for my productivity. It’s been around 35 degrees Celsius here, that’s around 95 degrees Fahrenheit, for more than a week now. Which is definitely not the kind of weather we are used too around here. Maybe for a day of two, three.. but not for this long. I heard we broke some national records this week.
So.. that was pretty much my week. I’m looking forward to being able to actually Sunday Post on Sunday this weekend!! :D:D
I hope you guys are doing well!

So glad you enjoyed the weekend getaway with your friend. A beach getaway sounds wonderful right now. But things are still grim here with the virus so I don’t envision travelling any time soon (probably not even this year). Sorry that your birthday isn’t a happy time for you… and you didn’t even get to enjoy a nice dinner. 🙁 I hope you get a break from the heat this week! Our temps have been the same but that’s very typical for here (Florida) all summer.
Thanks Tanya. I can’t imagine having this kind of weather all summer. I guess you get used to it. But here life is just not build for it. AC’s aren’t very common in houses here, so we have a fan.. Sigh.. We only have one for the whole house so I ordered more.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m happy to hear you had such a great time at the beach. It sounded the perfect day. Happy belated birthday!!!! =D
Happy readings!
Thanks Tania.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Hi Maureen! Happy Birthday! Sorry that you feel down… Just remember: Your birth day is the day the Lord decided to bless the earth with your presence. You should celebrate it!
How’s the book club going?
Keep well and take care of yourself!
Here’s my The Sunday Post #7
Thanks Mareli.
The Book Club is going well. Not everyone is responding as much as I’d like.. but it’s only the first month.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Happy Birthday to you! but I am sorry your dinner plans fell through. A beach day sounds so inviting. I am glad you had fun!
Thanks Gayathri.
Happy reading.
Glad you had a wonderful beach getaway, enabling you to relax and a belated Happy Birthday. Sorry you find it a tricky celebration… And VERY sorry that your birthday meal turned out to be inedible!
I hope you have a good week, Maureen.
Thanks Sarah 😉
What a great-sounding getaway. I remember how much I enjoyed those when my kids were little.
Have a great week and enjoy your books…and thanks for visiting my blog.
Thanks Laurel. It definitely was a great weekend.
Happy Birthday 🥳
I’m glad you were able to enjoy your weekend away, even if it was a little warm.
Wishing you a great reading week, and cooler weather
Thanks Shelleyrae
Happy birthday! That’s too bad about the food. So glad you had a great weekend trip. We still aren’t going out. It’s been mid 90s (that 35C) here from mid July to mid August but I think it is finally breaking and in the 80s now.
At least we have amazing books to read!
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
That’s so true. If it wasn’t for books I’d go crazy I think.
Happy reading.
Sounds like a great trip. Glad you had a good time.
Happy Birthday!
Thank you
It has been very hot and humid here in the UK, too! 🥵 So lovely to hear you had a lovely trip to the beach and enjoy time with your family for your birthday, even if your takeaway food was bad! Take care and happy reading in the coming week. 😃
The weather is getting better to bare here.. What about the UK?
Happy reading!
Sounds like you had a great getaway, it’s nice to get some time to yourself. We’ve had hot weather in Scotland too which has been lovely.
Have a good week.
Thanks Heather. It really was fun!
Glad you had a great weekend getaway and a nice birthday! Bummer that the food was lousy. That’s a downer no matter when it happens. Hopefully the next night you guys at least had something tasty to make up for it!
Nice new reads! Both are totally new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them once you get to read them!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
LOL! Yes the next night the food was much better. Luckily!!
Happy reading.
Happy belated Birthday! I usually take the day off to enjoy. Have a good week
Thank you.
Happy birthday! And yay for beach time! that’s always nice getting away a bit. 🙂 Sorry to hear about the bad takeaway though- that’s disappointing when that happens. I heard that parts of Europe were having unusual heat- I hope it’s died down a bit. It’s been muggy here too.
Take care and be well this week!
The temperature here is slowly getting much better to bare. We just aren’t used to the heat.
Happy reading!
A beach trip sounds amazing! I’m glad you got to get away with your family.
I’m sorry your birthday was a particularly low one. I hope the next week will be better for you!
Thanks Lori. 😉
A weekend beach getaway sounds so nice right now! My son is only 8 months old so I haven’t spent more than a few hours for a dinner date away from him lol
I totally hear you! This was the first time I was longer than a view hours away from her in two years. 😉
Happy reading!
