After being away for almost a month, I’m back blogging and Sunday Posting. After our baby boy Jack was born on February 22nd, I took a little break to enjoy our boy and get used to life as a family of four. But now I’m back and loving every minute of it. You can read a little more about baby boy’s arrival at my I’m Back post.
So.. What did I miss around here? What have you been reading?
Life here in the Netherlands is still pretty much the same. We are still in lockdown. There have been some minor changes, you can now visit some stores for a short amount of time if you make an appointment beforehand. But there are only a few people allowed to enter at the same time and if you’re like me you think about going to a store way to late to make an appointment. So I’m still only shopping online. And now I’m no longer pregnant, and feel physically all better I’m starting to feel the frustration about COVID and this lockdown more every day. The vaccination process isn’t going very well over here.. So the end of the COVID tunnel seems very far away still.
Although I haven’t been blogging, I have been reading a lot. I’ve been reading the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn, and am loving every book so far. Only three more books to go, and I’ve read all eight books. Sigh.. Obviously I’ve also been watching the Netflix show of Bridgerton multiple times already. LOL!!
Maureen’s Books celebrated it’s 7th Blogiversary on March 17th. Since I was taking a break, I shared my celebration giveaway this past Wednesday. If your interested you can still enter. 😉
I’m still on maternity leave till June 21st, so I’m trying to enjoy every minute of these days with my kids. And now I have the time, I’m also trying to think of ideas to possible do something more with my blog and reading. Don’t we all have the dream of making our love of books and reading into a profession? Maybe one day..
I hope you guys are doing well! Let me know what you have been up too!

Congratz on the baby boy. I hope he’s healthy and doing good.
Hopelijk snel. Enjoy the upcoming week and hopefully we’ll get some more much needed sunshine!
Thanks Esther.
En gefeliciteerd tante!! 😉 Super leuk!! Super frustrerend!!
Have a great week and happy reading.
Things over here are opening up at lightning speed… even though experts are strongly advising against it. It’s so frustrating. I know we all want to return to normal but everyone seems to be throwing safety out the window. At least the vaccinations are rolling out quickly. That’s something. I am so, so excited that you bought Cake, Maureen! I’m now on book #5 in the series, but Cake will always be my favorite. 🙂
I can’t believe I waited so long to read Cake! What a great read! I’ll definitely be checking the other books out too.
And this whole COVID thing is definitely testing our patience isn’t?! The day we get to travel, go out to restaurants etc. again will be my new favorite day.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Welcome back, Maureen. Your new little lad is so cute! Take advantage of being able to spend these precious months with him.
Here in the UK, the vaccination program is going better. However, restrictions have been lessoned slightly but we’re all still aware that another flare-up is still more than possible.
Hope you have a lovely week.
Thanks Flora. I’ve been hearing about the vaccination program in the UK. Our government could really learn something from you guys.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I want to start the Bridgerton series! I watched the show and loved it. Also, happy blogiversary!!! That’s so exciting!
Thanks Molly,
The Bridgerton books are also really good! I can’t get enough of them. 😀
Have a great week and happy reading.
You have such a precious family, Maureen. I just love this photo! Vaccines seem to be going slow in my area but stores are open and busy. It is kind of crazy. I hope you enjoy your time off with your family. Have a great week!
Thank you Carole. I’m definitely a proud momma. 😀
Have a great week and happy reading.
Congratulations, he looks so cute. I can’t wait for things to start opening up here in the UK but non essential shops are still closed for another week or so. I guess the vaccination programme is going better here than in Europe but summer will improve matters considerably, like last year.
Happy Easter
Thanks Charlotte. I can’t wait for the day things open up again here too. It all seems to take so long doesn’t?!
I hope you had a great Easter! Happy reading.
Huge congratulations on the safe delivery of your beautiful baby boy. Thank you for posting the pic of your lovely family – Jack looks so alert and is absolutely gorgeous.
I understand your frustration and I’m sorry that your Covid vaccination rollout is so unsatisfactory. Given the amount of examples from around the world, the kind of dithering by certain governments is unforgiveable, I think. Have a lovely week, Maureen:)).
Thank you. 😀
I totally agree with you. I think making such a huge vaccination program isn’t easy.. but how things are going here now is just terrible.
Have a great week and happy reaidng.
Congratulations on the safe arrival of Jack, and what a beautiful family picture.
Our roll out is also a shambles though we don’t have the same issues with cases or restrictions. I hope they get their act together soon.
Wishing you a great reading week
Thank you Shelleyrae.
It’s definitely a challenging time at the moment.
Have a great week and happy reading.
The vaccine roll0ut is going well here but we’re still heavily restricted on what we can do, who we can see, and businesses are still closed unless they sell food, medicine, etc. I’ve completely had enough but I persevere with the rules as I really don’t want another wave to flare up!
Fingers crossed things improve everywhere soon and we can start rebuilding normal life! Until then… Enjoy your baby time and books! 🙂
So true!! We definitely don’t wont another flare up.. but I do wish things would just get better now.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m so excited to see Jack! Great photo. Congrats and happy Blogoversary. It’s great you get that time at home. Hopefully by then more folks will be vaccinated. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by Kelly Siskind. Somehow I got Cake as a free audiobook but have yet to read it.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Postshth
Thanks Anne. I definitely hope things will be much better COVID wise when I need to go back to work. I’m keeping my fingers crossed. 😀
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m not sure I’ve congratulated you yet- so congratulations!!! How awesome! And welcome back. 🙂 Not to mention happy blogoversary!
I’m sorry to hear about the Covid situation. Things are really opening up here, although each state is different to some extent, but it feels pretty open. and our cases are rising, So a bad combo I guess. I get you on the frustration though. Vaccinations are going fairly well here after a bad start but I know not all countries have a good supply yet and it must be tremendously frustrating!
I had no idea Bridgerton was an 8 book series. Wow! I heard good things about the show though.
Thank you Greg.
I’m glad to read the COVID situation seems better at your end. Hopefully things will get better here soon too.
Yes, it’s an 8 book series and they are great. I’m trying to slow my reading down though.. How will I get my Bridgerton fix otherwise?! LOL.
Have a great week and happy reading.
Welcome back! I hope you and your family are doing well. Hopefully the vaccine situation where you are will improve soon. It was a bit of a mess here for awhile. I hope you have a great rest of the week! Happy reading!
Thanks Wendy. Have a great week and happy reading.
