What’s the worst thing you could do when you’re stranded in the woods with your rival? Sleep with him. That’s what.
Not only is Rowan Whitlock my sister’s ex, but we’re both vying for the contract that would save my family farm.
So why did it have to be Rowan who came to the rescue after I fell on a remote hiking trail? When the weather turned unexpectedly, we were forced to find shelter and ride out the storm. Only that wasn’t the only thing I ended up riding.
We promise ourselves what happens at the cabin stays at the cabin, but when we get back to Sugarloaf, it’s impossible to stay away from him. Those blue eyes captivate me, his strong body comforts me, and he makes me feel beautiful.
Which is crazy, right?
If only my stupid head would listen and stop this before my heart gets involved, but I keep going back because I’m already in too deep.
I should’ve known that the temptation wasn’t worth the risk because when it all falls apart, our promises are broken, and I’m afraid my heart will never recover.

Corinne Michaels really is one of those authors that doesn’t seem able to do anything wrong by me. I’ve read several of her series and loved almost all of them. And the Whitlock Family series definitely has been another one I’ve been loving. So after reading an ARC of the first two books in the series, I was excited when I got an ARC of ‘Tempting Promises’, the third book as well. Although this book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone.

In ‘Tempting Promises’ we read the story of Rowan and Charlotte. Rowan and Charlotte are neighboring farmers, who have been enemies for a few years now. Especially since Rowan supposedly cheated on Charlotte’s older sister a few years back, which he has always denied. Now Rowan and Charlotte are both hoping to land a new contract with the same company. And only one farm can win.  Every time Rowan and Charlotte are in one room together, things go bad. But when they end up being stranded together in a small cabin in the woods, things heat up between them fast. They both agree it was a mistake right from the start, but somehow they can’t seem to stay away from each other.

‘Tempting Promises’ was right from the beginning a very fun read. I always enjoy the enemies-to-lovers trope, and Rowan and Charlotte are definitely enemies. Every moment between them ends in an argument or even a fight. It’s sort of hilarious. And there is a lot of baggage between them because of Charlotte’s sister. I honestly wondered how they would end up together, since there really seemed to be a lot of anger between them. But in the end they did, and it worked.

Being back in the small-town of Sugarloaf was really fun. And I loved reading a little bit about the other Whitlock brothers as well. I must admit that the whole farming business was a bit questionable to me. Both Rowan and Charlotte didn’t seem to have a lot of help with their farms, and even when they got stuck in a cabin for days things still kept going. That part wasn’t as believable to me, but in the end it didn’t bother me too much. I mean, what do I know about farming?!

My favorite character was definitely Rowan. I loved how fun and childlike he was at times. But also how hard he worked. Everyone in town seemed to believe Rowan was a cheater, and he never let it bother him. And the interactions between Rowan and his brothers where the best. I loved those.

‘Tempting Promises’ was a really fun read I definitely enjoyed. The chemistry was fun, and it kept me hooked right until the end. I can’t wait to read about the Whitlock sister.
