What could possibly go wrong fake dating the gorgeous single dad in a small town?

The answer, you fall for him.

It started out perfect. Grady Whitlock needed a plus one for his business meetings, and I needed a date for a wedding.

We had a plan. It was a good one.

Until it wasn’t.

I was not supposed to have feelings for him. I was not going to let my heart race when his soulful blue eyes stared into mine. No way should I have noticed his smile or the dimple on his right cheek or his strong arms when he held me close. I especially wasn’t going to melt when I saw him play with my daughter.

Most of all I was not going to sleep with him.

Nope. None of that was supposed to happen, but it does.

Now I find myself dreaming of him every night. Wishing we were really a couple because the way he kisses me doesn’t feel as if it’s pretend.

But we’ve both watched our dreams shatter, and I can’t handle another broken heart.

Corinne Michaels is one of those authors I just never read a book by I didn’t love. So when I saw the sign up of ‘Broken Dreams’ I knew I needed to sign up right away. This is book two in the Whitlock Family series, and it’s a standalone. After loving the first book in this series, I was so excited to start reading this one.

In ‘Broken Dreams’ we read the story of Grady and Addison. Grady and Addison have something horrible in common. They are both single parents, since there significant others passed away unexpectedly. Addison is finally ready to start dating again, and Grady doesn’t want to date anyone. After Addison has had several horrible first dates, Grady saves her and they start talking. Soon they come up with the perfect plan for the both of them. They’ll be fake dating each other, so Addison can have a break from her horrible dates and Grady’s family will stop forcing him. And after a few weeks they will break up again but they will stay friends. Sounds perfect right?

‘Broken Dreams’ was one of those books I knew that was going to be a bit different. No first love for starters. And also some very intense and heartbreaking moments. Both characters have lost someone they loved deeply. And they are both raising a young kid. Getting to know Grady and Addison was something I really loved. They where grieving in different ways, but they also both really started to count on each other.

And then their was the chemistry between them. It was amazing, and it was definitely flying of the pages. And I loved those moments between them when they where learning to not feel guilt or sadness. It was so heartbreakingly beautiful to read their story.

The setting of the small town of Sugarloaf was wonderful as well. I can’t even imagine to have such curious and intense neighbors as both Grady and Addison have but it sure also seems to have its charm. And reading some short moments about other characters in books by Corinne Michaels was really fun.

‘Broken Dreams’ was a wonderful read I loved from start to finish. I can’t wait to read more about these Whitlock brothers.
