Today I’m super excited to participate in the blog tour
of ‘Hard Time’ by Cara McKenna. ‘Hard Time’ was published in the UK on November
6th. This book is a romantic erotic novel and it got some great ratings on
Goodreads and Amazon. Cara McKenna has written many novels and ‘Hard Time’ is
her latest book.

In this all-new novel from the author of ‘After Hours’ and ‘Unbound’,
a woman with a rocky past finds romance in the last place she’d ever expect . .
.
Annie Goodhouse doesn’t need to be warned about bad boys;
good sense and an abusive ex have given her plenty of reasons to play it safe.
But when she steps into her new role as outreach librarian for Cousins
Correctional Facility, no amount of good sense can keep her mind – or eyes –
off inmate Eric Collier.
Eric doesn’t claim to be innocent of the crime that
landed him in prison. In fact, he’d do it again if that’s what it took to keep
his family safe. Loyalty and force are what he knows. But meeting Annie makes
him want to know more.
When Eric begins courting Annie through letters, they
embark on a reckless, secret romance – a forbidden fantasy that neither
imagines could ever be real…until early parole for Eric changes everything,
and forces them both to face a past they can’t forget, and a desire they can’t
deny.

My Review:

I
received an ARC copy of ‘Hard Time’ by Cara McKenna through the Little Brown Book
Group in exchange for an honest review. I never heard of this author before but
I really liked the book description and I read a lot of good stuff about Cara
McKenna’s stories.
In ‘Hard
Time’ we meet Annie, a twenty something southern girl, on the verge of
beginning her new job as an librarian/teacher in the
town’s medium security prison. Annie has been hurt pretty
bad in the past and now she has been living without any man in her life for
almost five years. What Annie doesn’t expect is to meet Eric. Eric is stuck in
an terrible place but when he first lays eyes on Annie he feels hope for the
first time in a very long time.
When I
started reading ‘Hard Time’ I really didn’t know what I could expect. The cover
lets you know that you’re going to read a romance novel but the description,
although great, leaves you with a lot of possibilities. After reading only a
view pages I made sure nobody could distract me of my task.. I never wanted to
stop reading this book. I really just became addicted to the words in this
book. Cara McKenna definitely knows how to grab a girls attention.
What I
loved about this book was how original the story was. There are a lot of
stories about ‘bad’ guys but this one was just really different and perfect.
Although it doesn’t seem so at first, Eric is this amazing romantic and kind
guy. And although he is in a bad place and has made some huge mistakes in the
past he changed a lot and tries to be a better person. Eric is definitely made
to be everybody’s new perfect ‘book-boyfriend’.
The best
thing about this book was definitely the letters. I couldn’t stop reading them.
I think I read every letter at least three times. Those letters where the
perfect mix of romance and sexy. I definitely need to send my boyfriend on a ‘write-letters-like-Eric’
course. LOL!!
‘Hard
Time’ is definitely going on my favorite list. I loved how Annie and Eric met
and how they found each other against all odds. I loved their struggles and their
fights, but most of all I loved reading about their love for each other.
I’m
definitely an new Cara McKenna fan. I couldn’t get enough from this book and I
loved it all the way.
Definitely
a must read if you ask me 😉

About the Author:

Cara McKenna writes smart erotica – sexy stories with
depth. A little dark, a little funny, always emotional. She also writes red-hot
romance under the name Meg Maguire. She loves writing sexy, character-driven
stories about strong-willed men and women who keep each other on their toes,
and bring one another to their knees. Before becoming a purveyor of red-hot
romance and smart erotica,

Cara was a record store bitch, a lousy barista, a
decent designer and an over-enthusiastic penguin handler. Cara now writes
full-time and lives north of Boston with her bearded husband. When she’s not
trapped in her own head she can usually be found in the kitchen, the coffee
shop or jogging around the nearest duck-filled pond.
