Spade. People know what to expect when they hear my last name.
Billionaire. Alphahole. The forever bachelor. Heir to Spade Hotels, one of the most luxurious brands in the world.
Want to know what they would never call me?
Boyfriend.
Until her.
With one glance at her in the club, I’m ready to claim her for the night.
Dark, flowing hair. A smile that causes my heart to pound. Eyes that pierce my soul. And a perfect body that makes every part of me pulse.
She’s addictive. Electrifying. Consuming.
I’ve never wanted anyone more.
Our eyes meet, but she looks right past me. She isn’t here for me. She’s here for the music.
For the first time in my life, a woman makes me work for it. Her indifference fuels the fire inside me.
The result? One night. No names. No introductions.
Just pleasure.
The way I’ve always liked it.
But now, I find myself fantasizing about this gorgeous stranger, and I swear I can still feel the softness of her skin and taste her on my lips.
The minute I saw her, a switch flipped inside me. Now, how do I stop this raging … obsession?
When our paths cross again in the most unexpected way, I’m on a mission to make her mine. But what happens when she wants nothing to do with me?

I’ve been a fan of Marni Mann’s books for awhile now. Her stories are always so romantic, entertaining and different then I would have expected before hand. So when I learned about her new upcoming Spade Hotel series, I knew this was a series I wanted to read. When I received the ARC two weeks before the release day, I started reading right away.

In ‘The Playboy’ we read the story of Macon Spade. Macon has been enjoying life as a single billionaire for the last few years. He has been enjoying woman, but not for more than one night. And he definitely isn’t interested in any woman for more than a good time. But then he locks eyes with a gorgeous dark haired woman and he is determined to spend time with her. It’s supposed to be just fun, no names, just a good time. But Macon soon learns that one night isn’t enough. And soon he finds himself chasing the one woman who doesn’t seem to want him.

Brooklyn is working full time, while going to college at the same time. She rarely sleeps, and to get away from the stress of her life, she goes dancing in the club. The last thing she needs is the distraction of a handsome guy who seems to want more from her. But Macon is charming and handsome, and he goes out of his way to make her want to spend time with him. But their lives couldn’t be more different.

‘The Playboy’ was a story that kept me hooked right from the start. I loved how this book was written through both Macon and Brooklyn’s point of view. It made this book a lot of fun to read. The billionaire who never wanted for a thing in his life. And the hardworking, living paycheck to paycheck Brooklyn who was only focused on getting her degree and finding the perfect job. I love this kind of stories and this book definitely didn’t disappoint.

Reading how Macon was chasing Brooklyn was so much fun. I loved how charmed he was by her, and how determined he was to make her want to spend time with him. This book definitely gave me some ‘Maid in Manhattan’ vibes and I didn’t want to stop reading.

I also loved how some of the characters in other books by Marni Mann came to visit in this book. It just gave this book an extra charm.

The one small problem I had with this read was how fast Macon’s character changed. The book starts with young Macon just starting at college, and just haven broken up with his high school girlfriend, the next he is a mid twenty playboy who everyone knows never spends more time with a woman than one night. And then he sees Brooklyn and he is changed yet again. I feel like the beginning with his high school girlfriend didn’t really add anything.

But overall this book was a great read I definitely didn’t want to put down. I can’t wait what the next book in this series will bring us.
