GoodreadsTheir love was supposed to last forever. But when life delivered blow after devastating blow, Yasmen and Josiah Wade found that love alone couldn’t solve or save everything.
It couldn’t save their marriage.
Yasmen wasn’t prepared for how her life fell apart, but she’s is finally starting to find joy again. She and Josiah have found a new rhythm, co-parenting their two kids and running a thriving business together. Yet like magnets, they’re always drawn back to each other, and now they’re beginning to wonder if they’re truly ready to let go of everything they once had.
Soon, one stolen kiss leads to another…and then more. It's hot. It's illicit. It's all good—until old wounds reopen. Is it too late for them to find forever? Or could they even be better, the second time around?
After seeing ‘Before I Let Go’ everywhere, I knew this was a book I wanted to read myself. So when I got a paperback of this book for Christmas, I put it right on top of my TBR. At first I planned to read this book as a buddy read in January. But like always I just wanted to read to many book in to little time, and it took me till February to finally read it.
In ‘Before I Let Go’ we read the story of Yasmen and Josiah. Yasmen and Josiah have been divorced for two years. Their marriage looked like the perfect one. They where madly in love, had two beautiful kids and a thriving new restaurant. But then tragedy happened and they lost each other. But despite their marriage ending, they stayed close because of their children. Now Yasmen slowly starts to find joy in things again, and Josiah feels comfortable enough to date again. But the chemistry that was there years ago, still isn’t gone.
This story was definitely one that kept me hooked right from the start. The story alternates from past to present several times, and it made this book all the more entertaining. ‘Before I Let Go’ is a heartbreaking story. Yasmen and Josiah where the perfect couple right from the moment they started dating. Their chemistry was amazing and I loved reading how in love they were. But love is not always enough. And in this story that became even more apparent.
Although Yasmen and Josiah loved each other, their marriage didn’t survive. And boy did it hurt to read through those moments where they lost each other. And when Yasmen had to hear that Josiah started dating again? Phew.. this book was truly heartbreaking at times.
The best thing for me was how the author was able to make me fall in love with these characters. I loved both Yasmen and Josiah, and although I rooted for their love to conquer, I just wanted them to find happiness again above all else. Add two fun and endearing teenage kids, and I was definitely hooked to this book.
And a great bonus to this book was the end. The author shared some recipes at the end of the book. I love that so much, and I can’t wait to try these out.

Lovely review, Maureen! I adored this story and found it so powerful and emotional. The scenes with Yasmen and Josiah in the past, when their marriage was fracturing, were so painful to read. Kennedy Ryan is on another level.
Thank you Tanya. This book was definitely so unique and touching. I couldn’t put it down!
Great review you have here! I am thrilled that you loved this one. This author isn’t for me unfortunately, she gets way too political in her books. BUT I understand why her books resonate so deeply. I do love marriage in trouble books. Its always so wonderful to pick up books where you end up so in love with the characters!
Thank you. I’m sorry this book wasn’t for you though.
I’m a sucker for second chance romance so I’ll definitely be adding this to my to-read list. Great review and thanks for the book rec 💙
