He’s not my type. So why is this grumpy baseball star living rent-free in my head?

Griffin Carter.
Tall, dark, and d*ck-ish—and not in a good way.

Ever since the surly injured pro baseball player rolled into town for a rehab vacation, he’s been an absolute downer.

Rude. Condescending. And unfortunately, sexy as hell.

When his aunt falls and breaks her wrist, he’s stuck running Seaglass Scoops, the ice cream parlor adjacent to my family inn. After scooping one too many cones together, Griffin’s gruff exterior begins to melt and I catch a glimpse of the real him.

I should stick to the plan and not get involved. But after one taste of him, I’m not sure I can resist temptation. I know I’m setting myself up for heartbreak—he’s leaving as soon as he gets the all-clear from the team doctor.

Besides, everyone knows baseball is his true love—but maybe I can convince him life after baseball can be just as sweet?

A few months ago I read my first book by Kara Kendrick, ‘Unmistakable’. I really enjoyed the book, so when I received an ARC of the second book in the series I got really excited. Although ‘Unstoppable’ is part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone.

In ‘Unstoppable’ we read the story of Poppy and Griffin. Poppy is working at her family’s inn. This a fulltime job for sure, but she loves being busy. So next to the inn, Poppy helps out at the ice cream parlor next door. She loves working there. But when the owner gets injured, her nephew steps in to help out and she isn’t a fan of him.

Griffin is a baseball star and he is just in town until he is fit enough to get back to the game. Although he would do anything for aunt, working for the always cheery Poppy isn’t his idea of a good time. And having to be cheerful and nice to all these excited kids who come into the parlor, definitely asks more of his patience than he is used too.

Poppy and Griffin are opposites in every way. And everyone in town can see they don’t like each other at all. But, there is a thin line between hate and love. And when they are forced to spend more time together, they soon can’t deny the chemistry between them. But they still don’t like each other. Right?!

Reading Poppy and Griffin’s story was definitely fun. I loved their interactions, and the way they always seemed to rub each other the wrong way. It made me laugh several times. The chemistry between them was something you could feel flying of the pages. And although they both denied it, I was rooting for them from the start.

I must admit, to me it felt a but sudden when they did started to like each other. It was so obvious they were frustrated with each other a lot.. and before we know it they are in kind of a relationship. Although I didn’t mind it, I definitely thought it was a bit rushed. But luckily the romance was good enough to keep me hooked.

‘Unstoppable’ was a fun read I enjoyed. The setting of Seaglass Beach is really fun. And I look forward to reading more books in this series.

About Kara Kendrick

Kara Kendrick writes fun and flirty steamy small-town romance destined to give you all the feels. A reformed English major, she also has a master’s in counseling and was an elementary school counselor in her pre-mom life.

She loves the beach, wine, and rock hard abs, not necessarily in that order. When she’s not dreaming up Happily Ever After’s, you can find her chasing after her boy-girl twins, working out semi-hardish, or walking her adorable Shiba pups with her husband, who’s not too bad himself.
