First in a hot new cowboy romance series by author Erin Marsh, featuring cowboys dealing with wild animals on their land Clay Stevens desperately wants to reclaim his grandfather's land, using the latest techniques to bring water to the arid landscape. The last thing he needs is wild wolves on his ranch—even if they are brought there by feisty and determined conservation officer Lacey Montgomery. Lacey is convinced the ranchers and the lobos can co-exist, until Clay's nephew and his friends cause a landslide that injures some rare Mexican wolf pups and Lacey gets hurt too. Clay and Lacey have to work together to heal old wounds and reconcile community factions, if they're going to have any chance at the bright future they both envision.

When I read the book description of ‘Wild Cowboy Country’ a little while ago, I knew this was a book I wanted to read. I love Cowboy stories, and I love romance… So how could I not want to read this book? This was my first Erin Marsh read.

In ‘Wild Cowboy Country’ we meet Clay Stevens and Laney Montgomery. A view year back Clay inherited his grandfathers land, and he is determined to make it work. Unfortunately everyone in town only hears Clay’s last name, and are convinced he is just like his dad. Clay’s plans to make his place thrive get even more complicated when wolves are seen on his land.

Laney is the towns sweetheart and a conservation officer. She is determined to save the almost extinct wolves. And she isn’t afraid to tell Clay what she thinks.

‘Wild Cowboy Country’ is definitely a very nice, slow romance with a little suspense put into it. And I definitely enjoyed reading it. The two main characters Clay and Laney are both very different. They have been ‘fighting’ for years without ever really talking with each other. When they are forced to talk, due to a little accident caused by Clay’s nephew, they find out they are both not half as bad as they think.

I really enjoyed getting to know these characters. It was kind of sad to see how people treated Clay, only because of his father. He never got a chance to prove himself, and I loved how he still kept fighting to make things better.

Laney’s character was also fun to get to know. She was tough and hardworking and really fought for what she believed in. When Clay and Laney got closer and closer it definitely made me swoon.

The romance between Clay and Laney was very sweet. Their chemistry wasn’t one that flew of the pages in my opinion, but it was nice enough to keep me hooked and rooting for them. The suspense part was definitely fun too because I just didn’t expect it.

‘Wild Cowboy Country’ was a nice romantic read that kept me hooked to its pages.
