renovation.

Now they’re butting heads every step of the way… and their

risk she can’t take…

My Review:

When I came across the book description of ‘A Risk Worth
Taking’ I was immediately interested in this story. I’ve never read a book by
Victoria James before but this story sounded like a perfect and easy romantic
book to read. So after I received it a view days later I immediately dived in.
In ‘A Risk Worth Taking’ we meet Holly Carrington, a
successful twenty eight year old interior designer. Holly had everything in her
life planned, becoming a senior interior designer and spend time with her
family, that is until a horrible accident makes Holly the sole guardian of her
baby niece Ella. Now Holly needs to find a new balance in her life, and take
care of baby Ella. The first thing Holly does is going back to her home town
Red River to start the renovations of her old grandparents’ house so she can
sell the place and save some money for Ella’s future education. But being back
in Red River changes every plan Holly made, especially when Quinn Manning, her
teen crush, walks into her grandparents’ house.
From the moment I started in this book I was interested
in the characters. Holly is a nice, successful and independent woman and she
works hard to give her little niece a good life. Quinn is the ultimate ‘nice’
guy who always takes care of everybody’s problems, and he’s also very handsome.
There has been some major chemistry between the two of them for years. But
since there’s a seven years age difference between them, they have never been
able to do something with this chemistry. But now the time seems perfect. But
Holly isn’t interested in a man in her life. She just wants to sell her
grandparents’ house and get back to her old life.
Victoria James’s writing style is very easy to read. I
easily got swept away by this story and the characters. The little town of Red
River immediately spoke to me and I loved to read about how Holly found her way
with little Ella. But the best part of this book was definitely the chemistry
between Holly and Quinn. You could easily feel their attraction to one another
through the pages. At times I really didn’t like Holly though. She was just so
damn stubborn and I found it very frustrating at times to read about all the
ways she tried to keep Quinn at a distance. I just wanted them to finally get
together and Holly seemed to make that impossible. But thankfully Quinn is also
very stubborn.
I definitely enjoyed this story. It was an easy to read
book and a perfect ‘getaway’ from the real world. Victoria James wrote a great
story about love and finding the strength to survive the loss of loved ones.

About the Author:

Victoria James always knew she wanted to be a writer and in grade
five, she penned her first story, bound it (with staples) and a
cardboard cover and did all the illustrations herself. Luckily, this
book will never see the light of day again.

In high school she
fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance.
After graduating University with an English Literature degree, Victoria
pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened her own business.
After her first child, Victoria knew it was time to fulfill the dream of
writing romantic fiction.

Victoria is a hopeless romantic who
is living her dream, penning happily-ever-after’s for her characters in
between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in
the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be
ideal, but she’s quite content living in suburbia with her husband,
their two young children, and very bad cat.
