He’s not made for relationships. Especially not the kind she wants…
Mason Parker doesn’t believe in love. Sure, he cares about people. His younger brother, for example. That’s why he’s bringing him all the way to an abandoned cabin in the mountains to straighten him out.
But love? That’s for fairytales. And people who haven’t had the hope knocked out of them.
People like his brand new Little-Miss-Sunshine neighbor with the golden hair and unwavering smile.
Alaska Winter is a pure romantic. Her silver linings always outnumber the clouds. So when two hulking brothers move into the abandoned shack next door, she puts on a smile and introduces herself.
And gets knocked back.
That’s okay. She’ll just be neighborly from a distance. She won’t notice the way Mason’s muscles flex whenever he uses an axe, or the way his eyes are like flint whenever he looks at her.
And he won’t notice the way she plays with her dog in the snow when she’s only wearing skimpy pajamas.
Neighbors. That’s all they’ll be. What could possibly go wrong?

Carrie Elks is one of those authors I just love to read every single book from. And her Winterville series is definitely one of my favorite series. So when ‘Memories of Mistletoe’ came out I was so excited to start reading it. Unfortunately, some personal stuff happened, but I was finally able to start reading a little while ago.

In ‘Memories of Mistletoe’ we read the story of Alaska and Mason. Alaska is a hardworking woman who has been running her families inn for the last few years. She is definitely a very positive person who enjoys helping people out. So when Mason and his little brother move into the cabin near her home in the mountains, Alaska really wants to make them feel welcome. But Mason just wants to stay away from people and make sure his little brother finishes High School. Mason is definitely a grump, and he isn’t looking for a distraction in the form of his neighbor.. Except she really is distracting him.

‘Memories of Mistletoe’ was a wonderful read I really enjoyed right from the start. Getting back to the setting of Winterville was really fun and I simple just couldn’t get enough of this small mountain town. The romance between Alaska and Mason was sweet and nice. And I just simple adored these two characters together.

Getting to know Alaska’s character was definitely one of my favorite things about this book. I had been reading little bits and pieces about her character in the previous books and I just had been very curious about her story. And she definitely ended up being one of my favorite characters. I loved how strong and independent she was. Alaska’s character was fun and cheery, and she just made me smile.

But Mason’s character was definitely fun to. Yes, he was a very grumpy guy. But after getting to know him throughout this book, you could easily understand why he was the way he was. And I just loved him. But apart from the romance, I really loved Mason and his little brother Ty’s storyline in this read. It was just so fun and touching to read about these two.

Although I really enjoyed ‘Memories of Mistletoe’, I must admit, above all it left me feeling even more excited about reading North’s story. North is the last Winter sibling we haven’t read about yet and I’m definitely counting the days till I can read his story.

If you’re looking for a fun, sweet snow filled read, ‘Memories of Mistletoe’ is definitely a book you should read. And although it’s part of a series, you can easily read it as a standalone.

About Carrie Elks

Carrie Elks writes contemporary romance with a sizzling edge. Her first book, Fix You, has been translated into eight languages and made a surprise appearance on Big Brother in Brazil. Luckily for her, it wasn’t voted out. Carrie lives with her husband, two lovely children and a larger-than-life black pug called Plato. When she isn’t writing or reading, she can be found baking, drinking an occasional (!) glass of wine, or chatting on social media.
