So the first week of April has already come to it’s end. This week the Dutch government announced that the taken measures to try to stop the spread of corona will stay put until at least the end of April. Although we all knew this was going to happen, it still felt terrible to hear those words. Social distancing is the least we can do.. but it’s still hard. I hope, when this all ends, we’ll never take for granted again how lucky we are to be able to go out whenever we want, do whatever we want and with whoever we want.
This week I’ve gotten back to work in the Hospital. And although I work at the Traumatology department, and haven’t been responsible for a corona positive patient yet, it’s intense in there. Every time I walk out of the hospital, which isn’t as easy as it sounds since there are only two entrances open, I was rushing back to my baby girl and was happy when I got to hold her again.
Reading wise I had a DNF this week. Which is unusual for me. But I was really looking forward to some reading time, and this book just wasn’t able to spark my interest. I decided I had way to many books waiting for me, to be wasting my time with this one. I’m pretty proud of myself about that decision. It has taken some years.. but I’m getting there. LOL!.
I also bought myself a little gift with the new Sarah J. Maas book. I can’t wait to start that one. I also bought the new Jennifer Armentrout book tonight on paperback. It won’t be here until April 16th at the earliest though. I’ve heard some great things about that one. I also got an audiobook this week, which I haven’t gotten in a while. I started listening already and am enjoying it so far.
Blogging wise I’ve been trying to figure out why I can’t seem to put my posts on Pinterest anymore. It keeps saying my blog isn’t allowing any pins. But why? Very frustrating.
I hope you guys are doing well and making the best of things.

It is so hard now with everything changed, I agree. I feel the same way. Looking back at how freely we moved around and did whatever… it’s amazing to me and scary how fast everything’s changed. Even though this is probably going to go on for a while, I hope (like we all do) that we can get back tonormal soon!
I DNF’d one recently too and it was a book I’d been awaiting, so that was disappointing, but I agree. There are so many books, sometimes it’s best to let one go and move on.
Take care this week and be safe!
I really hope so too Greg. I can’t wait to take our little girl to the zoo again. She loves it so much.
Stay safe and happy reading.
Our hospitals are doing what they can to prepare for the worst, but they are all understaffed and don’t have the necessary equipment they need for the patients that are projected to need care. My coworker’s sister normally works in neonatal has been moved to emergency because there is such a need. I can imagine how happy you are to come home to your daughter after work. I know I sure am. And given what you must be hearing and possibly seeing, I can only imagine how much more it impacts you.
I hope you enjoy your new books! I am debating between fantasy or romance next–maybe a mix of both. Something to help draw my mind away from reality for a short while.
I hope you have a good week, Maureen. Stay safe and well.
Sigh.. I definitely can’t wait for things to be ‘normal’ again.
A mix of fantasy and romance sounds pretty good. 😉
Staf safe Wendy and happy reading.
I am glad you are back to work! I hope you are getting enough rest, as many hospitals here are overworked.
Thanks Gayathri 😉
Our lockdown is until 12 Apr for now, but I’m sure it will last at least another month. I agree social distancing is so hard, we will all be so happy to get back to doing the normal things we all took for granted, I’m sure working in a hospital is extra hard at the moment, so enjoy all your downtime with your family and stay safe Maureen.
Thanks Trish. I’m definitely trying to enjoy every moment.
Isn’t it great though, to realise how lucky we are to be readers? I mean.. my husband isn’t a reader and there are moments he is going crazy thinking of what he can do now. We have books! That’s probably the one good thing about all this social distancing.. I’ve a lot more reading time.
Stay safe and happy reading.
Stay safe and enjoy all of your books , Thanks for your service as a healthcare provider.
Thanks Cindy!
I can’t imagine how you must be feeling working in a hospital setting. Hopefully things become more manageable in the near future.
I recently purchased Maas’s new book! I’ve heard it’s even better than ACOTAR! I hope it gives up both a reprieve from what’s currently happening in the world.
Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear? 💬
I definitely hope so too. I can’t wait to start reading it! I keep the book on my living room table, so it’s screaming at me to pick it up. LOL!
Stay safe and happy reading.
It’s a unusual time and I’m being more moody with books. I have only gone out in a drive through mode and came home to shower and wash all the clothes immediately. I think this will be how it is for awhile and I don’t think we will go out in the next 3-4 months, maybe longer. Stay safe at work!
Have a wonderful week! Be kind and take care of yourself!
Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post
I’m definitely starting to think the same. But I get so sad when I think of so many more months.. so I’ll keep thinking forward for only a month. Sigh..
Stay safe Anne and happy reading.
Best of luck with the social distancing and lockdown – we are now on Week 3 and it is posing some challenges. I hope the coming week in hospital is a good one – and I can understand why you want to give your lovely little girl a special hug once you get home. Stay safe, Maureen.
Thanks Sarah. It’s definitely starting to get more challenging right?! But we’re staying strong.
Staf safe and happy reading.
Yes, I miss the socials and friendly hugs. Enjoy your newbies and take care.
I never knew I was such a ‘touchy’ person before this. I keep wanting to put my hand of a schoulder etc. when I’m at work. It’s definitely taking some getting used too.
Stay safe and happy reading.
I can’t imagine having to work in a hospital at this point. I’ve always admired what our medical force does but during this time, I have even more admiration for them. I only wish I could stay home as well, to help stop any possible spreading but my job doesn’t allow me. Because my company works very closely with banks and grocery stores, we can’t close either despite playing such a minor role in their business.
I can’t wait to find the time to dive into Sarah’s newest book! From what I let myself hear, people were liking it! Lol! I also bought Jennifer’s latest, but was hoping to get the paperback on sale. Since it wasn’t I just bought the ebook for now. Might see if I can ever order that one signed later on! Lol.
Hope you enjoy all the new reads!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

I think jobs like yours should get more credit for all they do too. It’s very kind that people keep thanking me for being a nurse, but I feel very awkward about it most of the time. Especially when I’m in a grocery store at the moment.. there are many people out there risking their health and working hard. I choose this profession.. and going out when others have to stay in, think of holidays, was part of the deal. You on the other hand for example, probably didn’t think about that part when you started the job. 😉
Good luck with work this week. Stay safe and happy reading.
I’m glad your return to work hasn’t been overwhelming.
House of Earth and Blood is on my wishlist.
Wishing you a great reading week and good health
Thanks Shelleyrae. So far so good.
Stay safe and happy reading.
