This week off from work has flown by. Although I didn’t really do much else than relax and spend time with our little girl. It was so nice to just spend time with our girl and being able to lie down if my body told me too. I still had my back and pelvic pains but it was much easier to handle.
On Wednesday I had my little ‘me-day’ while our little girl went to the daycare. I went to the hairdresser, and had my eyebrows done. At home I did some blogging and watched the first two episodes of Virgin River (OMG I love it). It was definitely a good day.
On Thursday my grandma came to visit for the first time in almost two months. It was a great day, and I loved seeing my grandma so happy to see her great granddaughter again.
On Friday I did some cleaning, and one of my girlfriends came over to help with some house stuff.
On Saturday we celebrated ‘Sinterklaas’. A Dutch children’s festival. This year it’s the first time our little girl really seemed to understand it a little. And it was a great day. My mom and her boyfriend came over and we had a great evening. Our little girl was definitely spoiled.
Today, Sunday, I’m going to decorate our home for Christmas. And I’m excited! It will probably take all day since I have to lie down every two hours or something. But I’m looking forward to it. And my husband is there to help out if I can’t do it myself anymore.
Next week its back to work. Only three more weeks to go before I’ll stop working until somewhere in June and our little boy is already probably around 3 months old. Time sure does fly.
I hope you guys are doing well! What have you been up too?

I’m glad you had a somewhat relaxing week off, Maureen! It’s so much harder expecting a second child, isn’t it? As you also have to take care of your girl, but still try your best to take care of yourself, too. I hope your back and pelvis will be all good when you go back to work this week.
We’ve been Christmas decorating, too. Usually, we do this much later in December, but this year is different in every way, and we wanted the lights, the hope and the colors the decorations bring us.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading 🙂
Thank you Linda. This time is definitely harder and I find myself having a lot less patients with my little girl than normal. Which makes me feel quilty. Sigh.. It’s a challenge for sure.
Happy reading.
So glad you enjoyed your me day, Maureen. And how wonderful to be able to see your grandmother. Hope you have fun decorating today. Don’t overdo it!
Thank you Tanya
Sinterklaas sounds intriguing. I will be looking up Google for more info on it. I am glad you had the rest and stay safe.
LOL! You do that 😉 It’s definitely a fun Dutch thing 😉
I’m glad you had a restful week and were able to relax when you needed it – priceless moments, especially a me day ! I think your Sinterklaas is the equivalent of the Eastern French Saint Nicolas 🙂 Happy weekend and take care 🙂
Thank you Iza.
So glad you’ve been able to enjoy this week relaxing and doing things at your own pace! It is always more of a slog the second time around… Your Sinterklaas festival sounds lovely – and I’m glad your little girl enjoyed it so much. I hope the coming week is also a good one!
Thank you Sarah. And our girl definitely enjoyed it.
Sounds like you had a nice and relaxing week with time for yourself and time spend with your little girl and family visits. Sounds like your little girl had a fun time with Sinterklaas. We put up our tree last week and it’s nice to have that festive feel in the house. I hope you’ll have a good week!
I sure did. Funny how those Christmas decorations feel extra special this year right?! Happy reading.
Enjoy decorating! We decorated this week too (Tue and tree on Wed) which is much earlier than we’d usually decorate but this year… It just needs a little extra festive sparkle. 🙂
Take care of yourself and I hope the next few weeks at work aren’t too taxing before maternity leave starts.
Thank you.
Oh Maureen that sounds like a wonderful week! I am so pleased for you, especially as you have been finding things so hard before. I also got into the festive mood this week: doing some Christmas shopping and starting to put my decorations up, too! 🎄
Take care in the coming week and your last three weeks at work – Hopefully they fly by! 🤞🙂
Thanks Jessica. It was definitely a good week 😉
I’m glad you had the week off to relax! It’s such a cliche, but that being pregnant with a second kid was the hardest for me. I can’t speak to any more than that because I only have the two, but it was so different than being pregnant with the first!
I still need to decorate the house for Christmas. Although if I’m honest, last year’s mantle arrangement made it the full year so technically I don’t have to do anything, but I’m going to redo it because I didn’t really like it last year.
Take care of yourself and I hope you have a great week!
Yes, this pregnancy is definitely very different than the first one. I’m struggling more and more. Mostly because I also feel so quilty, to not being able to do what I used to do with our little girl.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading.
Glad you enjoyed your time off! Time away from work always seems to fly by, doesn’t it? I’m still waiting to hear if we’re going back into the office tomorrow. I’ve been working from home the last two weeks. I both like it and don’t. I like not having to commute though! Lol!
Nice new read! Haven’t heard of this one but hope you love it once you get to read it!

Thanks Jessica.
I’m sure you are looking forward to your maternity leave..
Have fun decorating
Wishing you a great reading week
Ow.. I sure do! Every day I look forward to it more.
Happy reading.
You had such a nice week. I hope these last weeks go quickly and not too painfully. Then you’ll have the time you need for your family.
