Happy Sunday! You might have noticed I haven’t been sharing a Sunday Post on here these last two weeks. Life has definitely been a bit of a roller-coaster, and I just needed to take a break. I don’t even know where to start..
In the last week of November my husband and best friend surprised me with a phenomenal gift they had been secretly planning for months. Why a gift? Well, they are too kind.. but it was a Christmas and almost-starting-a-new-job gift. I got a ticket to go to London with my best friend from Wednesday December 8th, till Friday December 10th!!! It has been my dream to go to London during Christmas season forever. All those Christmas decorations in my favorite city of the world?! I was super overwhelmed and cried my eyes out to be honest. And I didn’t expect this gift at all. Everything was arranged.. a 4 star hotel, flying with British Airways.. all the works. But unfortunately three days later our trip got canceled due to our increasing COVID numbers. Boy.. as a nurse, I really understand that this is not the worst thing at all.. But I was devastated! Sigh.. Well, of course no one could change a thing about it at that point.. And my husband, he’s just the best, assured me I will be going next year. But still.. I’m so done with this COVID stuff!!
As a nurse I was able to get my booster vaccine this week. Unfortunately the whole booster campaign isn’t going very well over here, and still only my grandmothers age has been able to get it. But as a healthcare professional we also where allowed to get it. I got it as soon as possible, and other than feeling a bit warm/cold for a few hours I’ve been perfectly fine after it. With the exception of my ongoing cold. It’s been more than two months now! Crazy! We are going to the doctor on Monday, since our baby boy also still has this cold.
This week my best friend and I ended up going to the city of Maastricht for a night. It wasn’t London, but we had a great time in a luxurious hotel room and did some Shopping. And the whole not being woken up by the kids for one night was magical. 😀
I also managed to find someone who is helping me with my WordPress issues. And I’m so relieved. It was just so stressful not being able to make things work properly again. I also got the Ultimate Book Blogger Plugin (Thanks for the tip Shelleyrae & Anne 😉 ) . Now why did no one tell me I should have got that one years ago? LOL!! It’s amazing! I’m still figuring it out, but so far it’s amazing!
I only have five days left of working at my current job. December 23rd is my last day. Although I know I’m going to miss the hospital world and my co-workers, I’m also ready and super excited for my new job to finally start.
So.. that’s about all I wanted to share today. LOL!! How have you guys been? What did I miss?

I think we’re all a bit fed up of the Covid thing (though I’m more fed up with the mixed messages on it from my government, but that’s another story). Hopefully, you’ll get to London next year.
True. Those mixed messages are really frustrating. But here I’m feeling like it’s more the media that’s making things worse by spreading literary everything.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m so sorry your trip was canceled! I would have been crying too! But how incredibly sweet of your husband to plan that for you. He’s a keeper! 🙂 At least you had the one night getaway with your friend. That had to be a treat. Hooray for getting your booster. I hope it becomes easier for everyone to get soon!
Thank you Tanya. It was definitely an amazing gift. And next year it will be just as great. But I sure was sad for a bit. LOL!
Have a great week and happy reading.
I understand how you feel 100%!! My trip to London is going to be canceled too.
It’s been my DREAM to go there during Christmas and my trip was planned for December 26th / December 30th. Lets cry together 🙁
Maastricht is nice too during Christmas. I’ve been to Valkenburg, yesterday, which is actually next to it 🙂
Done with having a cold too! I’m testing every other day, still negative, so I’m happy about that, but the cold can go away too, tyvm.
Have a great week!
Ow no!!! I’m so sorry your trip is cancelled too. I guess we could have known.. but it’s still so sad. I really hoped this year would be better COVID wise.
Valkenburg sounds great too. I’ve been hearing some great stuff about it. Fingercrossed that we can both go to London next year.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I would also love to go to London over Christmas time! So sorry it go cancelled…. At least you had one fun night with your friend and hopefully you will be able to go next year…
Still waiting to hear about booster shots here with us as well, hope to hear soon!
Have a good week and take care!

Thanks Mareli. The little getaway with my friend was definitely great.
I sure hope you guys will be able to get the booster shots soon too.
Have a great week and happy reading.
The trip sounded like a wonderful surprise! Shame that it had to be canceled, but that’s pretty much become the new world order/norm these days. I hope next year is better and you and your friend get to go on your trip! It sounds wonderful! Yeah, I just got my booster this week as well. I had a few moments of feeling dizzy and a couple of chills but nothing like my second shot did to me, so that was a plus!
Nice new reads too! Those are new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Yes, it’s definitely the new world at the moment. Blegh.. I sure hope we can go back to normal one day. I hate the idea my kids won’t be able to go places whenever they want to.
I’m glad your booster didn’t give you much trouble either.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I’m sorry about your trip but hopefully you will go another time. I hope you love the UBB and if I can help with anything I will try but Ashley is much better than me, of course. I hope you get a nice holiday break before starting your new work. So glad you got boosted.

Thank you Anne. I’m not really getting it yet, so I’m contacting Ashley. But I definitely keep you in mind. I’m just the worse in this.
Have a great week and happy reading.
I got the UBB when I started blogging back in 2014 or 2015 and it’s been a lifesaver ever since! I did stop using it in my actual posts, but I still write the information so the books appear on the Review Archive.
I’m definitely loving it so far. 😀
Happy Reading.
