‘Shoot,’ I muttered when the paper
sliced my finger;
I pulled it out to examine the damage.
A single drop of blood oozed from the
tiny cut.

It all happened very quickly then.

‘No!’ Edward roared… Dazed and
disoriented, I looked up from the bright red blood pulsing out of my arm – into
the fevered eyes of the six suddenly ravenous vampires.

For Bella
Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But
being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have
imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil
vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and
dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning…

Passionate,
riveting and deeply moving, New Moon, the compelling sequel to Twilight, irresistibly
combines romance and suspense with a supernatural twist.

My Review:

Last week
I decided it was time for a Twilight re-read session. I love the Twilight Saga
and I have read the books many times. But not since I started my own Book Blog
and I never wrote a review about these books. So after reviewing ‘Twilight’, I immediately
started ‘New Moon’ again.
‘New Moon’
is the second book in The Twilight Saga. In ‘New Moon’, Edward leaves Bella
behind to give her a chance at a normal life. This devastates Bella, and soon
she is only a shell of the person she was before. That is until she starts
hanging out with her friend Jacob Black more and more. Jacob is younger than
Bella, and obviously feels more for Bella than only friendship. But Bella’s
heart belongs to someone else. But slowly she starts to realize Edward is never
coming back.
When Jacob
suddenly stops hanging out with her, Bella is desperate to find out what is
really going on with him. And soon she finds out there is more strange in this
world than vampires.
‘New Moon’
is the book in the Twilight Saga I always had a love/hate relationship with. I
really hate love triangles, and since I really love Bella and Edward I always
found it really hard to read about their separation. But on the other hand ‘New
Moon’ is such a powerful book, and really shows the intensity of Bella and
Edward’s relationship. And when you read the book, you really find out there
isn’t really a love triangle going on. It will always be Bella and Edward, and
Jacob will always be Bella’s best friend. This, to me,  is very clear in the book. The movie didn’t
really show this part as good as it should I think. Not that it’s a bad movie.
But if you see the movie you really think Bella is kind of in love with Jacob,
and in the book you really read and feel that it’s much more a friendship kind
of love. That is my opinion at least.
In ‘New
Moon’ we also get to see more of the friendship between Bella and Alice and I
really enjoyed that. I love Alice, she is such a mysterious and fun character.
I always get a smile on my face when I read about her. And the relationship
between Alice and Jasper is just damn cute.
In ‘New
Moon’ we also meet the Volturi for the very first time. The thousands of year
old vampire family who kind of are the royalties of the vampire world. Although
I’m definitely not on their side, I always had kind of a soft spot for that
family. There’s just so much mystery about those vampires, I enjoy reading
about them. Especially in this book.
‘New Moon’
is definitely a great second book to a great series. And reading it never gets
old.
