My Review:

When I
first lay eyes on the beautiful cover of ‘Heart Shaped Rock’ I was completely
hooked. I love book covers that grabbed me and this one immediately did. When I
received ‘Heart Shaped Rock’ in exchange for an honest review I was thrilled.
Somehow I just knew this would be an amazing read. And boy it was..
In ‘Heart
Shaped Rock’ we meet Shaynee, a sixteen year old girl who just lost her mother
through cancer. Shaynee is devastated by the loss of her mother. She struggles
to hold on and be there for her little brother Lennox, who’s twelve. But
somehow, with help of her best friend Tiffany she survives the first six months
of her mother’s death. But still there is a big whole in Shaynee’s heart and
she doesn’t know how to go on. When Tiffany keeps telling Shaynee to come work
with her in a coffee shop called ‘Sheila’s’, Shaynee decides it’s time to give
it a try. Shaynee immediately loves working there and she immediately loves the
owner of ‘Sheila’s’. Soon after Shaynee starts her new job she meets this
mysterious motorcycle boy called Dean. Dean is seventeen years old, extremely
handsome and best of all a singer in a band called ‘Red Card Riot’. Shaynee and
Dean immediately hid it off and it seems they are mend to be. But when Shaynee
finds out Deans secret, she is devasted beyond words. And soon Shaynee may lose
more people than only her mom.
There
are some books in which the beginning is a little slow and there is a lot of
intro. And there are also books that don’t grab your attention until somewhere
in the middle. ‘Heart Shaped Rock’ is nothing like those books. This book
grabbed my attention from the moment I first started reading it. I really fell
in love with this story. There were many heartbreaking and teary-eyed moments
in this book, and I also shed some tears. This book was just that beautiful. I
loved reading about Shaynee and Dean and I felled so sorry for the loss Shaynee
had to go through.
The
thing I loved most about this book was how descriptive everything was written.
Laura Roppé definitely did an amazing job. Every feeling Shaynee had was described
and it made this book really great.
The
character I loved the most was definitely Lennox. Although his part wasn’t huge,
I loved reading about the little goofy brother. I wish we could more about him
and how he grew up. He was definitely the kind of kid I would be hanging out
with when I was younger.
This
book was definitely an emotional roller-coaster and I loved it all the way. What
is also amazing about this book is that all the music that Shaynee and Dean
wrote is really out there for us to hear. Just visit Laura Roppé’s website. Loved that. A
definite must read ‘Heart Shaped Rock’!!!
