To the rest of the world, Rome Moreno is the Riff King. An icon, a Rock God. When I met him, he mistook me for a stripper and asked me to ride his lap. So consider me unimpressed.
I didn’t mean for him to take that as a challenge…
There’s no place for a tattooed hunk of trouble like him in the regimented life of a world-class dance princess. My days run on a carefully timed clock – where I go, when I practice, what I eat. I sold my soul to the devil to pay for my dreams, and I’ve accepted it.
But one taste of forbidden fruit can do the most destructive things. Especially when I discover Rome's scars go a lot deeper than his tattoo ink.
I honestly believed that if they already owned my existence, it meant I had nothing left to lose.
I was wrong.

After reading the first two books in the Enemy Muse series by Eva Simmons, I knew I wanted to read this one as well. Although I hadn’t read the 3rd book yet, I knew these where standalone novels and I couldn’t resist signing up for an ARC. And when I received the ARC, I started reading as soon as I could.

In ‘Worth The Trouble’ we read the story of Rome Moreno and Lili Chen. Rome is a member of the rock band Enemy Muse and he is known for his tattooed body and his many woman. Rome is a partyer and he is rarely serious. But lately things have been different for him. He is in a funk, and is desperate to change back to feeling nothing. When Rome meets Lili, a dancer, he finds himself intrigued with the beautiful. Especially when she seems just as alone and broken as he. But Lili is from a very different world than Rome. Everything in Lili’s life is planned including the guy she should be interested in.

Eva Simmons has a way of writing a story that feels so unique to me. This is the third book I read written by her, and every story has been an emotional roller coaster. ‘Worth The Trouble’ was no exception. Rome’s character is very troubled, and it took some time for me to really start liking the guy. I was impressed with how little I liked him at first, and how much I still wanted to keep on reading. His character was just so complex.

And then there is Lili. A dancer who has spent her life working towards her goal, pleasing everyone around her, especially her mom. And her mom was just a horrible person. I wished Lili stood up to her mom a lot faster than she actually did and it was hard to read her story. But just like with Rome’s story, I was intrigued and just couldn’t stop reading.

And in the end I loved Rome and Lili’s story. I loved how messed up they were, and how perfect. I loved reading more about Enemy Muse and the previous characters and I just loved Eva’s writing. This book was such an emotional one, and it definitely hurt a bit to read. But in a good way! And I’m determined to read more books by this author.
