I kissed my best friend’s little sister, and the world stood still.
That night we were two perfect strangers, the town’s grumpy recluse and a gorgeous girl in the back of a bar. Until we weren’t.
Because Nadia Dalca isn’t just some girl. She’s the girl I can’t have. Fourteen years younger than me and completely off-limits.

My plan is to stay away, but the universe keeps pushing us together. It’s like some sort of cosmic joke, to give me a taste of something so electric—so real—something that breathed life back into me.
Because I can look, but I can’t touch.
Her sinful curves, her light-hearted laughter, her wild side . . . I’m addicted to every last bit of her.
And when she turns those sultry eyes on me––the ones so full of longing and so free of judgement? I’ve always considered myself a strong man. But when she looks at me I’m weak.
To give in to our connection would be a betrayal. My life is beyond complicated, and she has the world at her fingertips. Her brother is the only family she has left, and sad as it sounds, he’s also my only friend.
But I kissed her again anyway.
And now I can’t stop.

After reading two previous book in the Gold Rush Ranch series, I knew I just had to read this story. I just love Elsie Silver’s writing so much, so I signed up for her ARC team. And when I got approved I was really excited and I started reading as soon as the ARC arrived on my kindle.

In ‘A False Start’ we read the story of Nadia and Griffin. Nadia is Griffin’s best friends little sister, and she is completely off limits. Especially since she also is fourteen years younger. But one night in a bar, changes everything. And although they try to stay away from each other, there is a bond between them that can’t be denied. And soon, fate has something in store for them and they can’t stay away from each other.

I knew when I read the book description of ‘A False Start’, that I was going to love this read. What I didn’t expect was how much! And boy, did I love this book. From the moment I started reading I was completely hooked, and I loved everything about this read. The two main characters Nadia and Griffin are definitely two of my favorites. Nadia is still young, but her past makes her much older in mind than she is in years. She is feisty, and hardworking and above all really brave. I adored her. And then there is Griffin. He is this very moody, and mysterious guy that I loved right from the start. There is just something about him that makes you swoon. And I loved the moments between Nadia and Griffin.

Just as in the previous books I read in this series, I loved the setting of this book. I loved the horsed, the small town setting, and the friendships. We also get to read about the main characters of the other books as well. And although these books can definitely be read as standalones, I loved knowing most their stories already.

The romance between Nadia and Griffin is definitely amazing to read. The chemistry is flying of the pages, and I loved reading this book through both their point of views. The age difference is something that I barely noticed myself. It wouldn’t bother me nonetheless, but I could have easily forgotten that part if the characters didn’t brought it up themselves. There are plenty of steamy moments, and above all moments that made me swoon.

‘A False Start’ was an amazing read that I couldn’t have loved more. I definitely recommend it, and I’m determined to read the book I haven’t read in this series soon.

About Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver is a Canadian author of sassy, sexy, small town romance who loves a good book boyfriend and the strong heroines who bring them to their knees. She lives just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband, son, and three dogs and has been voraciously reading romance books since before she was probably supposed to.

She loves cooking and trying new foods, traveling, and spending time with her boys–especially outdoors. Elsie has also become a big fan of her quiet five am mornings, which is when most of her writing happens. It’s during this time that she can sip a cup of hot coffee and dream up a fictional world full of romantic stories to share with her readers.
