He can’t decide if he hates me or wants me.
Vaughn Harding is my new boss. Getting close to him would be career suicide for a female racehorse trainer, and plain old gossip fuel in this small town. I get a kick out of our verbal sparring, but I swore off his type years ago.
And I’ve got plans.
I’m the new trainer at Gold Rush Ranch and I’ve just been handed a problem horse that I promised to make a winner. I want to put down roots, and I’m not about to let a man distract me. No matter how electric it feels when we lock eyes, or how my body ignites when we touch.
Vaughn’s a vivid reminder of every guy I grew up around. Handsome, rich, entitled--a total media darling. But there’s a sadness in him that I can’t seem to turn my back on. A sensitive side hidden beneath brooding good looks.
The last thing I need is a broken man to put back together, and the last thing he needs is more scandal.
Teasing him for kicks is one thing, but handing over my heart?
I should have known better.

After reading my first book by Elsie Silver a few weeks ago, I knew I wanted to read more books by her and in this series. So when it was time to start reading a new book I knew I wanted to start reading ‘Off To The Races’. And I’m so glad I did.

The Beginning

From the moment I started reading ‘Off To The Races’ and met Billy and Vaughn I was hooked. Vaughn is in need of a new trainer, and Billy is perfect for the job. But she is also unexperienced, gorgeous and feisty, and probably a distraction that Vaughn really doesn’t need. But the attraction and chemistry between them is definitely hard to deny. Although they sure do both try.

The Middle

When Vaughn gives Billy the job, he is determined to make her want to leave within weeks. He gives her the job no one wanted, and a horse that doesn’t seem to care for anyone. But Billy isn’t easily scared, and she definitely is up for the challenge.

I just loved Billy and Vaughn so much. They seem to be totally different at first, and it was hard to imagine them being together.. ever. But there was a lot more to them than you’d initially think. For one I loved how strong and a bit weird Billy was. She worked hard for what she wanted and she was great in her job. I loved how she was with DD, the young and troubled horse. But above all I loved how she was with Vaughn.

Vaughn is desperately trying to get his family’s name cleared, and Billy might be able to help him get the best horse. But above all she helps him feel something different than pain and confusion. And soon he is a goner for her. Vaughn loves everything about Billy, and soon he is determined to make her his. And those moments, that Vaughn really worked on getting closer to Billy.. Sigh..!!

The End

Next to some great romance, some amazing chemistry and some fun main characters, I also love the ranch and horse parts in this read. It really made me miss my horseback riding days. And above all it made me really curious about some of the other side characters we got to read about.

I loved everything about ‘Off To The Races’, and I can’t wait to read book two in this series.
