I’ve seen every square inch of Violet Eaton’s delectable body and she has no idea who I am.
Until now.
What happened between us online, in our chats, was meant to stay anonymous and in the past.
Until it didn’t.
It’s a small world, but Ruby Creek is even smaller. When I move to the tiny town, the grumpy facade I’ve created slips when we’re forced to live under the same roof.
Every flush of her cheeks, every time her eyes flare with heat, every time she begs me not to stop, the ice I’ve encased myself in melts. She has me wanting things I can’t want. Things I’ve been dreaming about since I first laid eyes on her two years ago—things I don’t deserve.
But my invisible wounds have the power to ruin us both. As a former soldier, I should have the discipline to walk away, but the more I open up to Violet, the more I want to keep her.
I came back from the war a different man, but my scars are older and deeper than anyone knows—and I planned to keep it that way. I planned to keep my secrets hidden.
Until her.

After reading every other book in the Gold Rush Ranch series by Elsie Silver. I knew I needed to read ‘A Photo Finish’ as well. So when I got time on my reading schedule, I dived right into this one.

In ‘A Photo Finish’ we read the story of Violet and Cole. We got to read a little bit about these characters in the other books in the series, and I’ve been really curious about them. Violet is the young jockey who has worked at Gold Rush Ranch for a while now. Cole is the handsome, but troubled brother of Vaughn Harding (the main character in book one). And from the moment they meet, there is something between them. But what Violet doesn’t realize at first, Cole already knows who she is.

I had so many questions about this read when I finished reading the book description. I just had no idea what to expect and it made for quiet an exciting read. Violet was a great character to get to know. She grew up on this farm with her family, and has always lived this kind of easy life. Now she moved to Gold Rush Ranch, to make something out of herself and she is determined to do everything on her own. Moving, also made Violet wanting to be bolder and bit crazy. So she did something (you’ll have to read the book to find out what) no one would expect of her.

Cole is a hardworking businessman and ex-military. After coming back from the war, he was a changed man and now all he does is work and keep to himself. But Violet changes everything for him. And she makes him want to be different. But she is all light and positivity and he is definitely nothing like that.

‘A Photo Finish’ was definitely a book I couldn’t put down. I loved every single page of this book and I was hooked from the moment I started reading till the very last page. Yes, I even kept on reading well past my bedtime and had way to little sleep. This story was just so good!

Violet and Cole’s story was definitely unique. But it fitted them perfectly and I loved everything about them. Especially Cole. He was just so mysterious and secretly crazy about Violet. There wasn’t a thing about him I didn’t love to be honest. And the romance between Cole and Violet was amazing. I mean it gave me butterflies and everything. Sigh..

This was another perfect read by Elsie Silver. Let me tell you.. if you haven’t read a book by her and you’re into romance? Go get her books now!! It won’t disappoint for sure.

About Elsie Silver

Elsie Silver is a Canadian author of sassy, sexy, small town romance who loves a good book boyfriend and the strong heroines who bring them to their knees. She lives just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia with her husband, son, and three dogs and has been voraciously reading romance books since before she was probably supposed to.

She loves cooking and trying new foods, traveling, and spending time with her boys–especially outdoors. Elsie has also become a big fan of her quiet five am mornings, which is when most of her writing happens. It’s during this time that she can sip a cup of hot coffee and dream up a fictional world full of romantic stories to share with her readers.
