This week was my first real week of maternity leave, and it has been a good one. With the exception of a little scare at the beginning of the week, but everything was checked out and all was well. I managed to find my rhythm with our little girl and being at home every day and it was really nice. Sure, I still need to remind myself to slow down at times and not clean the complete house in the morning.. LOL!! But things are going well.
Reading wise Iβve been on a role too. I already read four books so far this year, and Iβm loving the time I have for my blog and reading. Obviously only when the little girl is asleep.. but it has been nice to not feel so behind.
One of my girlfriends came to visit on Thursday, and she had this sweet gift basket made for me and the baby. She said it was because I couldnβt have a real baby shower this time around, with COVID-19 etc. And it was just so sweet and she really had some fun and gorgeous stuff for our little boy.
On Friday, our little girl and I visited my mom and we had a nice morning catching up. And our little girl really enjoyed seeing her grandparents.
This weekend we have nothing planned really. Other than relaxing, and spending time with the three of us.
Lockdown wise, things are still going strong here. The new COVID cases arenβt really getting any less, so I donβt think things will be opening up soon. And for the other worldly news this week.. Well.. lets just say Iβm staying in my little family, maternity leave bubble over here because looking at the news just makes me want to pull my hair.
I hope youβll are doing good. What have you been reading?

Glad you are staying safe and healthy. I very much like my bubble right now, too. lol I have tons of new books to keep me company.
Staying in our bubble might the best thing to do right now I think. LOL!
Happy reading π
The news has been crazy- I’m not sure what’s going on over here in America but many of us are not pleased! Anyway, glad you had a nice first maternity week. Hope you have a great week ahead! π
I definitely didn’t know what I was seeing when I put on the news the other day. Lets hope things get better from now on.
Happy reading!
Haha staying away from the news sound like the best plan, Maureen! I stopped watching it months ago! π I am so pleased you had a lovely, relaxed week at home with your family and a visit from a friend. This week I finished reading the jolly good crime-fiction, The Mother’s Day Mystery by Peter Bartram. π Take care and happy reading! π
LOL!! Good for you. The news is definitely not fun at all at the moment.
Enjoy reading your crime-fiction novel π
Happy reading.
I agree that a relaxing and off the news weekend is what we all need. I hope the rest of your leave goes as well as this one. Stay safe and take care.
Thanks Gayathri. Happy reading.
Oh I think you should stay in your little bubble – we can’t change the news by watching it and wringing our hands, so why do it? And so glad that you have had such a cosy, happy week with your little girl. Enjoy the time you have left with just her, alone… Hoping the coming week is a good one and you get plenty of time to put your feet up:)
So true! I’m definitely trying to stay here in this bubble for as long as possible π
Happy reading!
Glad to hear your first week was good and I hope your friends continue to spoil you π
Thank you Mar π
Glad that things are going alright with you. Have a great week!
Thanks Ronyell! Happy reading π
I am glad your first week of maternity leave went well and that the scare was just a little one. That was so nice of your friend to put together the basket for you and the baby. I hope you are enjoying your reading and your time with your little girl. Remember to take it easy. π Have a great week!
Thanks Wendy. I’m definitely learning how to take it easy. I’m not very good in slowing down π
Happy reading.
Glad to hear you’re doing well! Especially after an early scare! Yeesh, that’s not what anyone needs during this time, let alone a pregnant woman at this time! Glad it worked out. Yeah our news this week was just nuts. I started seeing posts on twitter and was like…what is going on? Then I heard a news cast going on in my manager’s office, so I hop onto different sites to see what was happening and was just shocked. This is the world we live in I guess. What a way to start a new decade, first COVID and now political chaos!
Nice new reads!! Those are new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them all and enjoy your maternity leave time. Hope it’s all R&R for you until the big day!
Here’s my StS
Have a GREAT day!

Yes, it’s definitely a crazy time. I’m trying to not think about it to much to be honest.

I hope you are doing well! Can’t wait to see what you think of Much Ado About You. It is on my TBR.
I’m definitely doing well Chrissy. Thanks for asking π
I just started reading Much Ado About You.. I can’t wait to read further.
Yay for being able to read 4 books already! I felt like I was able to sneak in a lot of books when my two boys were little with night time feedings β₯. Ohhh I’m looking forward to what you think about Much Ado About You, hope you enjoy.
Night time feedings are definitely good for reading. I totally agree.
And I just finished.. Much Ado About You.. It’s sooooo good!!
Have a great week and happy reading.
I am so glad you are having leave now to rest and relax and prepare. It’s also wonderful to just stay home right now with all the crazy out there. Enjoy your reading!
It sure is Anne.
