As a fanatic reader and book blogger I love reading book
discussions. And since I also love having my own book blog I decided to post a
book discussion myself. So join me on my little book discussion journey and let’s
have some fun!
shorter and darker, I find myself looking forward to the evenings when I can
sit on our couch with a blanket over my feet, a cup of tea in one hand, my man
next to me and a good book in the other hand. These moments truly are like
heaven to me. When I think of a perfect reading moment.. That is definitely the
one I picture in my head.
our balcony with a book in front of me too.. I still find myself being more of
a ‘winter’ reading person. I just love those cozy evenings. Burning candles,
comfy blankets.. Somehow I always feel like I read more during the winter time.
I don’t exactly know if that is true, but it sure feels like it.
on a winter evening, surrounded by candlelight and me being curled up on our couch. Off
course I still have dreams of improving my perfect little reading space. I
would love to have a fireplace some day. I love the smell of burning wood, and
the sound of the flames crackling. Sigh.. yes adding a fireplace would make my
winter-reader-heart even more happy. (Fireplaces also make me think of
Hogwarts! :D)
winter yet. But like they say in Games of Thrones.. Winter is coming!
So tell me.. What kind of reader are you? A Summer or Winter Reader? Or do you not think of yourself as either one?

I read all year, but do see an uptick in the winter months. For me the biggest change is that I am a seasonal reader and my genre are influenced by it.
Funny how I also seem to read more during the winter time. I would have guessed otherwise since there always seems to be way more time in a day during the summer.

I read all year, too – I bring my kindle to the beach with me in the summer, and like you, I cozy up with a blanket and my kindle in the winter. I do agree, though, that those dark, cold winter nights are almost magical and so they also are really made for reading.
Great post, Maureen!

Yes, those nights are definitely magical. I love how the books are somehow even better when it's dark outside, there's candlelight in the room and your sitting on the couch with a soft blanket.. Sigh..

Ha ha good one about Winter is coming! lol I'm not sure if I'm summer or winter, i like reading out in the woods when camping in summertime but I also like reading inside on a cold day when the snow is swirling. If I had to pick one though I'm probably say winter, just because there's more time to read and it's too cold to go outside much, at least where I live.
Nice post!
Whaha.. I just watched all the seasons of GOT for the first time, so I'm totally in GOT mode. LOL!!
There definitely seems to be more time in the winter for reading. And a hot coco with a great book also isn't a bad thing 😉

I do read approximately as many books in every season, but there is something extra nice about curling up on the couch with a book when the weather is cold outside. I have noticed I've been reading a bit more the past few weeks as the cold weather and how it gets dark earlier makes me feel like reading. But that can also be because of the changing of seasons, I always like those days.
I definitely also feel like reading more and more. I alway's do.. but somehow I now feel even more like I want to read all day, every day.
Rain outside and cold winds definitely makes it even easier to commit to those feelings! 😀

Fun post!
Yes, I read all year-long, with hills and valleys in my progress along the way, but I do prefer to read in the winter. In the summer sometimes I am too hot & bothered to read, so I binge on tv shows on Netflix, or go outside to do things.
In winter, even where I live currently where it's never really cold, it gets cooler at least… and my mind is set in the long holiday season, so I read more. I think because reading is a solitary hobby, the instinct to hibernate (or cuddle on the couch) makes for increased reading 🙂 Enjoy your week!
Thanks Rita. I agree with you there.. In the summer I definitely watch more Netflix than now during the winter. Funny how these things change. It sure could be the whole hibernate instinct!

Great post! I read all year long, but my books tend to be "darker" in the winter months, and "lighter" in the summer. I find I read the most romance during summer, and more horror/mystery in winter. While I read fantasy year round, even the tone of those books change with the seasons. However, I live in CA, so that pattern isn't written in stone.
Thanks Tiffany. I read Romance stories all year long, but I can definitely see why people read more horror and mystery during the winter time. A good mystery novel is probably even better when it's dark and cold outside.

I read all year round, but I am happiest reading in the winter with a fuzzy blanket. I think I read more in the winter as well.
Winter just has a fuzzy feeling about it, doesn't it?! In the winter I always imagine those days, when I was younger, when we traveled to Switserland, and we stayed in those wood covered little houses and we had hot coco for drinks. I'd love to read again in one of those cozy houses.
