Abby Martin was an ordinary girl about to start high school, or so she
thought, until she became plagued with nightmares after learning that
she would be moving to Arizona with her mother. Stressed doesn’t even
cover what Abby is feeling when she thinks about trying to make new
friends, but to her surprised she is surrounded by a new crowd from day
one. She is even drawn to one guy in particular, Pete, but when Eli
tries to convince her to stay away, she begins to second guess whether
he is the guy for her. Unfortunately, she doesn’t heed his warnings and
finds out too late he was right all along. What’s more is Eli isn’t who
she thought he was either. Immortality, kidnapping, and gifts are now
swirling through her mind. The deeper she dives into learning of Eli’s
world she finds herself more confused and in trouble. And to top things
off Abby suddenly can’t stop thinking of Eli, her Protector, in a whole
new light, is that love she’s feeling? Abby and Eli get in over their
heads when Pete is plotting against them, but who will come out on top?

My Review:

When I first read about ‘Obscured’ I was immediately
interested. This book sounded like a very fun read and the cover just really
looks interesting and mysterious. So I signed up to read and review it.

In ‘Obscured’ we meet Abby Martin. Abby is sixteen years
old and has just moved with her mom to Arizona. Not only is she trying to get
used to her new hometown, and her parents’ divorce, but she is also starting
High School. Abby isn’t really looking forward to her new school and meeting
new people, but on her first day in High School, Abby soon learns that there
are a lot of nice people who want to be her friend.
One of the first people Abby meets is Eli, a mysterious
guy who becomes her best friend almost form the beginning. But Eli has a
strange request, he wants Abby to stay away from Pete. But Abby likes Pete from
the very first moment he started talking to her, and nothing seems wrong with
him.
But Abby soon learns to get used to her new life, but
also that people can hide all kinds of stuff.
This book was a very nice read and I enjoyed every page.
The main character Abby was immediately very likeable. Abby loves to read, and
she is very serious about her schoolwork since she wants to get into an Ivy
league college. Abby also seems to be very mature, she helps her mom out with
cooking, always makes sure her mom knows where she is and she really tries to
do her best at school.
Eli was also a character I really liked. He was really
mysterious and seemed to keep some secrets from the very beginning, but somehow
I felt like he could be trusted. The friendship Abby and Eli developed was just
adorable and I really loved them.
The writing in this book is very prescriptive and easy to
follow. This was good because I wanted to keep on reading, but at times it also
felt like the story went a little to fast. Abby’s days are almost described to
the detail, and although that was fun.. I sometimes wished the author didn’t
write everything with so much detail, so the time wouldn’t need to go by so
fast.
But this wasn’t so bad that I didn’t enjoy this book. Not
at all!! This book was fun and I loved the characters and the unique turn this
book took. This book definitely made me want to read more and more about Abbie
and Eli.
I really hope there will be a next book, so the story of
these characters can continue. I definitely want to read more.

About the Author:

‘Obscured’  was C. M.’s debut novel. What
began as a way to spend her free time slowly transitioned into a passion for writing. She’s
currently working on releasing her second novel, ‘Divulge’. The best is
yet to come!

 C. M. is a mother of three. She grew up
in the sunshine state of Arizona with a love of reading and an ambition to
write. But never took her writing seriously until after the birth
of her first child. After that she took up writing more seriously in
her spare time and hasn’t stopped since.
