Cold. Callous. Cocky. A total playboy with abs for days, a panty-melting smirk, and a face the gods themselves would be jealous of. And he’s my new boss. None of that matters, because as a single mom, men like Alexander Harding are the last thing I need. What I do need is this job, so I’m going to keep my head down, work hard, and avoid that asshole as much as humanly possible. But then he gives me an offer I can’t refuse, even though everything inside of me is warning me to run away and never look back. It’s just one weekend. One weekend to convince a potential client that Alexander has changed from the player who spent more time in the bedroom than the boardroom into a family man they’d be happy to go into business with. But the more time I spend with him, the more I realize that there might be a beating heart buried under his designer shirts and spectacular pecs after all…which is bad news for me. Because the only thing worse than hating your boss is falling in love with him.

Ever since becoming a mom myself, I’ve been loving books involving a mother. So when I saw the sign up for ‘Hard Place’ I got excited and signed up as fast as I could.

In ‘Hard Place’ we meet single mom Harper. Harper has two beautiful five year old twin girls and she is struggling to make ends meet. She became pregnant 5 years ago after a very unusual- for- her one night stand. Now she lives in a bad neighborhood trying her best to get food on the table. So when she gets offered a new job with twice the salary. She doesn’t need to think about it at all, and excepts. The job pays great, but her boss seems to be a very angry, hard, unkind but gorgeous guy.

I didn’t really know what to expect about this book. But I must say I really enjoyed ‘Hard Place’. I especially loved Harper’s character, and she seemed just so real to me. Harper is definitely a great mom. She does everything for her two girls. But she struggles and I loved getting to know her character and reading how she tried to take care of her girls. Her struggles where sad to read but definitely seemed ‘real’.

After slowly getting to know Alexander’s character more and more. I definitely started to love his character too. He has been through some pretty hard stuff, and I think he ended up being a pretty decent guy considering what he went through. He didn’t seem to be to unkind to me. Which the author did seem to imply throughout this book. Overall I just didn’t think he wasn’t that harsh. But maybe that’s just me being used to and surrounded by lots of arrogant doctors. LOL!.

Although the cover might suggest this book is filled with sex scenes, this is definitely not the case. Yes, there is sex in this book, but not much and it’s pretty mellow if you ask me.The romance was something I really enjoyed, is was slow and just really good. Yes, I really had fun reading this book.

‘Hard Place’ is part of a series. And it stopped with a pretty big cliffhanger which was perfect, but frustrating. I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens next with Harper and Alex.
