GoodreadsBearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon. Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.
Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.
Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.
There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.
From the moment I read about ‘Things We Never Got Over’ a few months ago, I knew this was a book I was going to love. I bought it immediately, but somehow it ended up on my never ending TBR list, and I hadn’t been able to start reading it. So when I got the chance to meet Lucy Score in person a few weeks back, I knew I had to grab the opportunity to get this book signed, and to get the two other books in the series as well. Meeting Lucy, was a dream come true, and I loved her. She was just so kind. And so when I finally got the opportunity to start reading this one this week.. I dived right in.
In ‘Things We Never Got Over’ we meet Naomi Witt. Naomi has run away from her own wedding, to help her twin sister out. But when Naomi gets to the small town of Knockemout, her estranged twin sister tricks her and leaves her eleven year old daughter behind. Naomi didn’t even know she had a niece. But after meeting her she knows she would do anything to keep her niece save and happy.
Now Naomi is determined to make a home for herself and her niece in the small town. Realizing she never should have planned to marry her ex-fiancé, she finds herself wanting a better life in the small town. And soon she is looking for a home and a job. The last thing Naomi expects is to find Knox, a bad-boy barber who seems to hate her from the moment they met. Even though there is nothing nice coming out of his mouth, he seems to do everything in his power to make things better for her and her niece.
When I started reading this book, I was a little afraid I wouldn’t like it. I met Lucy Score, bought the complete series of the Knockemout series.. Wouldn’t it be horrible if I didn’t enjoy this book? Well, I shouldn’t have worried. From the moment I started reading ‘Things We Never Got Over’ I was hooked.
Getting to know Noami Witt and Knox Morgan was so much fun. They where two totally different people, but they had this chemistry between them that was undeniable. Noami was someone I could easily relate to. She was always taking care of everyone around her, making sure they where happy and doing well. From the moment Noami met her niece, she was determined to give her the best life possible. And although Knox was definitely horrible to her, when in need, she wanted to help him out too.
Knox was attracted to Noami right from the start. But his past, and the way he lived his life made him scared as hell to the things she made him feel. I loved their banters, and the way Knox didn’t seem to be able to help himself when he was around Noami. This book made me laugh and swoon at the same time.
And another great part about this read, the side characters. This book contained so many fun side characters I really hope we get to read more off in the next books. And I definitely plan to read those soon. ‘Things We Never Got Over’ was amazing! And I’m so excited I got to meet Lucy and get her to sign my books.

I loved this one too. I actually picked this book because of a reading challenge and I needed an award nominee book. This one popped up and I am so glad I read it. I’m definitely continuing the series.
