I'm not a dad. I don't care what any paternity test says.

My grandfather thinks he can manipulate me into being a parent. He can't. No one can. Not even the pudgy-faced newborn I've reluctantly agreed to take home from the hospital.

I'm not a dad. But I've also never accepted a bet I can't win.

One year with the kid. That's all I have to do to double my trust fund. Fail and I could lose everything.

But I can't do it on my own, and the only nanny that has lasted longer than two days is forbidden. In a major way. Maybe that's why she's become my obsession. Even if she comes from my enemy.

When I received a sign up email for an ARC of ‘No Small Bet’, I dropped everything and I signed up right away. I started reading my first Samantha Christy book last year, and since I loved her writing I ended up reading four of her books so far. And when I read the book description of ‘No Small Bet’, the first book in the McQuaid brothers series, I knew this book was one I really wanted to read. Luckily enough I got picked for an ARC, and started reading as soon as I got it on my kindle.

In ‘No Small Bet’ we read the story of Hawk McQuaid. Hawk has just found out he is a father, and he is the only one who can take care of the little girl. But how is he supposed to care for someone, if the only thing he ever cared about was himself and his money? From the moment I started reading this book I was hooked. Hawk definitely is an arrogant, cold-hearted guy who never had to work for anything. But somehow, I could feel there was more to him than we learned at first. And trust me, he didn’t make it easy to be liked.

Addy is not sure what to do with her life now she is done with college, and after losing her leg in a car accident. She is tough, hardworking and definitely very stubborn. But what is she supposed to do now? When she gets offered a lot of money to be the nanny of Hawk’s baby girl, she simple can’t say no. Even if that means she has to move in with one of the McQuaid brothers. Her family definitely won’t be happy about that. But Addy can take care of herself. But is she immune for Hawk’s look and charms?

The thing I found most addictive and charming about this read was the way the author wrote the characters. These characters have so many layers to get through before you really get to know them. It kept me hooked from start till finish. I went from totally disliking Hawk, to absolutely loving him. And I loved that we got to read through both characters point of views.

The chemistry was amazing, the romance heartbreaking and I simple loved every age in this book. I read it in only one day, which is kind of impressive with two kiddos. I also adored the fact that this book also took place in the same place as the Calloway Brothers series.

‘No Small Bet’ was definitely a five star read for me and I can’t wait to get my hands on book two.

About Samantha Christy

Samantha Christy writes sexy new adult and contemporary romances. Although each book is written as a standalone, her series' tie together so you'll enjoy seeing characters pop up over and over again.

Regardless of where you start your Samantha Christy journey, you can count on three things: Every book feels REAL (you'll see bits of yourself in each heroine.) Every story has PAIN (because what's a good romance without it?) And all her heroines find LOVE (because true romances have an HEA.)
Real. Painful. Love.

Samantha enjoys life as a full-time author under the warm Florida sun with her husband and four children.

I received this ARC through Grey’s Promotions.
