GoodreadsA second chance, surprise pregnancy romance.
He was my high school sweetheart. My dream guy. My soul mate. And as of yesterday... my ex-husband.
He wanted everything I couldn't give him. A doting wife, a perfect family, a white picket fence, and game nights.
It's not that I didn't want to be his wife anymore. I just wanted something more—a career. So when an opportunity came up two years ago, it was easier to make him hate me than have him think he wasn't enough.
Now, a day after our divorce is final, I find myself thrust back in the town we grew up in, down the street from the house we once owned together.
Seeing him again has me second-guessing everything. My priorities. My reason for leaving. My secrets. When we cave, and have one explosive night of ex sex, everything changes.Or nothing has.
And I have to decide if history is about to be repeated.
After reading ‘Unfinished Date’, book one in the Calloway Brothers series, a little while ago I knew I wanted to read more books in this series. So when I got the opportunity to read ‘Unfinished Ex’, I was super excited and started reading as soon as I could.
In ‘Unfinished Ex’ we meet Jaxon and Nicky, two childhood sweethearts who got married young. Everyone always thought they would be together forever, but life didn’t work out that way. Jaxon and Nicky wanted two different things out of life, and soon Nicky moved away to work on her career. Years passed, and their divorce finally got official. But then Nicky find herself in her old hometown again and when she meets Jaxon again they soon realize life might be better together, but maybe not the way they planned.
‘Unfinished Ex’ was a read that kept me hooked from the moment I started reading. I was so curious about Jaxon and Nicky’s story after reading a bit about them in the first book. This story was definitely a bit emotional, and it definitely made me tear up. And the chemistry and love between Jaxon and Nicky was wonderful to read about. I honestly couldn’t stop reading.
I read some horrible reviews about this read, and I absolutely disagree with those. This book supposedly wasn’t romantic at all and just wrong. Sure there were some moments in this book that weren’t all that romantic. But to me it made this book a lot more real. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. We all make mistakes and stuff happens that we wish we could have prevented from happening. And the way these characters where able to life with what was being thrown at them.. I loved it. It felt so much more realistic to me. Sure things got a bit far fetched in the end with Nicky and her new best friend, but I loved it every step of the way!
‘Unfinished Ex’ was a great read and I can’t wait to read more books in this series. Although part of a series, it can easily be read as a standalone.
