Stalking the town recluse wasn’t exactly wise.
Davis was five years older than me…antisocial and temperamental. And there was the little fact that he didn’t know I existed.
Still, I gave him my heart, and he crushed it.
So I picked up the pieces and ran away to New York City. I had a plan that would keep my heart intact for years.
But one phone call changed everything.
Returning home meant facing the past…and the man who ruined me.
I had hoped that the mountain had swallowed him whole.
But, as I set out to help my parents, I discover he’s not only alive and well, but that they apparently love the jerk.
He has no idea that we have a past, which is both a relief and salt in the wound.
I promise myself I’ll ignore how his eyes linger on me, or how his touch feels like a live wire, and I’ll remember that once upon a time he broke me, and for that, I refuse to fall for him again.
But I can’t control that he seems to be falling for me this time.

When I first saw the cover, and read the book description of ‘Resisting The Grump’ by Ashley Munoz, I knew this was a book that I wanted to read. I honestly hadn’t heard about the author before, so I was really excited to start reading.

In ‘Resisting The Grump’ we read the story of Rae and Davis. Rae has moved away from her hometown after finishing high school. And studying was not the only reason for her hastily departure. After years of watching her high school secret crush, Davis, from afar. He broke her heart and she left in a haste. Never to return again.

But now, Rae got her college degree and her parents need her help with saving their business. So anxious and afraid, Rae moves back to town only to find out Davis doesn’t remember her at all and ever worse, he is close with her parents.

After a bit of a slow start, in which I found Rae a bit overdramatic, I am happy to say I absolutely devoured this book. This book is both written through Rae and Davis’s point of view and I simple loved reading their story. Rae has loved Davis for years, and he never even noticed her. So when they meet again years later, Rae is to embarrassed to really want to spend time with him. Even more so since he really broke her heart.

Davis has wanted to meet Rae after hearing her parents talk about her for years. And from the moment they meet, he knows he wants to know her better. But Rae seems to hate him from the start. But there is something between them that they both can’t deny. Even though there are many secrets between them.

My favorite character was without a doubt Davis. To me he sounded a bit like Luke, from Gilmore Girls, and as a Gilmore Girl fan.. How could I not love him? He might be a bit of grump, and seems to stay away from people most of the time but when he meets Rae he is determined to see her often and change her mind about him.

The romance and the chemistry was truly amazing, and I found myself reading this book in one night only. I loved everything about both Rae and Davis. And the setting of Mount Macon just seemed enchanting to me.

I also really enjoyed meeting Rae’s best friend and her neighbor. I can’t wait to read their story. ‘Resisting The Grump’ was a wonderful read that definitely makes you want to read more books by this author.
