Marco Rivera is at a crossroads. The professional goalkeeper is at the height of his career. But when the mother of his son dies unexpectedly, he must make some difficult decisions. Leaving his job behind, he is determined to insert himself into his son’s life and be the hands-on father he’s always wanted to be. But first, he must gain the trust of Diana Nieves. Diana has everything under control. Mother of two and guardian to Marco’s son, she manages her family, her ex-husband, and the local high school with deft efficiency. Dealing with Marco Rivera though might be more than she can handle. Forced to work together, Diana and Marco need to figure out how to heal a grieving teenager, rein in a wayward girl, and fight their increasing attraction to each other. In the midst of tragedy, they have to decide what it takes to move on.

In ‘What It Takes To Move On’ we meet Marco Rivera. Marco is a professional goalkeeper in London, and he is doing extremely well in his job. But when the mother of his son suddenly dies, he is determined to do what is best for his son. He quits his job and moves to the US to be there for his son. While Marco is getting ready for his big move, his son Ale is living with Diana, his guardian. When Marco and Diana meet, there is a lot of baggage between them. But soon they grow closer. Diana is a single mom, taking care of her own two children while being a guardian to Ale. And Marco is in awe of her from the moment they meet.

This book definitely left me with mixed feelings. Overall it was a fun read, that kept me interested till the very end. But there were also moments I felt like I was missing something. For example a lot of time would pass by in one single page. Every time this happens in a book, it makes me feel like things are rushed and it also was just a bit confusing at times.

The romance between Marco and Diana was fun. I loved that they got together and took care of each other. I also loved their conversations and how they took care of their children. But it did feel like the chemistry wasn’t really there. At least not as much as I would have hoped.

What surprised me was how this book was written through both Marco and Diana’s, and also Mia (Diana’s daughter) and Ale’s point of view. It wasn’t a bad thing, but I just didn’t expect it and I’m not sure it really worked for this story. I sort of feel like reading Mia and Ale’s point of view just distracted from the main story.

But in the end I definitely enjoyed Marco and Diana’s story. It kept me hooked until the very end, because I just really wanted to know how things would end.
