The New York Times Bestselling author of the On Dublin Street series and PLAY ON returns to the world of the arts in this intense and emotional standalone romance about love, sacrifice, and surviving both. Once upon a time Skylar Finch was the lead singer of a hugely successful American pop-rock band. But fame made her miserable. When years of living a lie suddenly ended in tragedy, Skylar fell off the map. Eighteen months later she’s sleeping in a tent in a cemetery in Glasgow, making just enough money to eat by busking on the streets. She manages to avoid recognition, but not the attention of one of Glasgow’s ambitious A&R executives. Killian O’Dea works at Skyscraper Records, Scotland’s most successful record label. Raised by his uncle and owner of the label, Killian’s upbringing would have been devoid of affection entirely if it wasn’t for his loving sister. Killian is unflinchingly determined to bring the label more success than ever, and the young homeless woman who busks on Buchanan Street is going to help him do that. Her music speaks to him in a way he refuses to over-analyze. All he knows is that if it can touch his dark soul, it’ll set everyone else’s alight. Skylar makes it clear that she doesn’t want to sign with him. But when she experiences the dangerous reality of a woman sleeping rough, Skylar has no one else but Killian to turn to. An undeniable connection forms between them. But Skylar doesn’t want the career Killian is trying to forge for her, and when her past comes back to haunt her Killian will be faced with a decision that could ruin him. He must either free Skylar from his selfish machinations and destroy everything he’s ever worked for, or lose a woman who has come to mean more to him than he ever thought possible…

I’ve been a big fan of Samantha’s writing for a view years now. But there are still some books I haven’t read by her. So when I had the opportunity to buy ‘As Dust Dances’, I just couldn’t resist. And I started reading this book as soon as possible.

In ‘As Dust Dances’ we meet Skylar Finch. Skylar used to be this famous singer, but when something tragic happened in her life, she disappeared from the spotlight. Now, almost two years later Skylar has been living on the streets of Glasgow. Yes, as a homeless person. Skylar is determined to be invisible. The only moment she allows herself to be noticed, is when she sings on the street. But when a handsome guy starts listening to her music every week, she is afraid he know her secret.

Killian has been hardworking and responsible ever since he and his sister lost their parents in a tragic accident. Now the only thing Killian cares for is his sister and his career. But when he hears Skylar singing on the side of the street he can’t get her out his head and just has to make sure she is okay.

Last week I read the new novella by Samantha Young ‘Hold On’ and I knew that was a novella following this book. So I read a little about Skylar and Killian before. I loved that book and I was super excited to learn even more about these two characters. And luckily for me, when I started reading I couldn’t stop anymore. I loved this book, I loved Skylar and Killian and I loved how intense this book was.

The characters of Skylar and Killian were easy to love for me. I loved the fact that they where both a little different, and worked so well together. But I loved their chemistry definitely the most. From the moment Skylar and Killian meet the chemistry is flying of the pages, and I loved how they became each other’s world.

Skylar’s story is very sad, but also really fun to read. A famous rock chick, who hates the fame and loves the music. There’s something about that I really enjoyed. The whole living on the streets part gave this book definitely something extra. And don’t even start with Killian. I loved the fact that he was so hard and focused to the outside world, but when you got to know him there was so much more to him.

Simply said, this book ended way to soon. I loved every single page and couldn’t read fast enough. Another great one from Samantha Young if you ask me.
