Today I’m excited to participate in the Release Blitz of ‘When We Met’ by Marni Mann. This is a Contemporary Romance novel and the second standalone book in the Moments in Boston series.
When I first saw the cover and sign up for ‘When We Met’, I found myself intrigued by this book. Although it is part of a series, it’s a standalone, so I knew it wouldn’t be a problem that I hadn’t read a book by this author before. The book description of ‘When We Met’ just really made me curious, and I was over the moon when I received the ARC.
In ‘When We Met’ we read about Whitney and Caleb, and how one decision can change the course of your life. Whitney is a RN in a hospital in Boston, where she works during the Boston Marathon bombings. And Caleb, is the heir of a very successful firm that makes him a lot of money. Whitney and Caleb meet the day of the bombing, and their life changes immediately. They have this connection and instant chemistry, and the both make each other’s lives better.
What I expected to read in this book was some nice Romance. What I didn’t expect was this emotional roller coaster that made me tear up multiple times. (Damn you pregnancy hormones!! Although I’m pretty sure I would have teared up if I wasn’t pregnant too.) This book is told in different parts, and although I didn’t expect it, I loved that. It definitely kept me wanting to keep on reading, and I finished this book in a day.
The two main characters where definitely fun and easy to love. Especially Whitney. As a nurse myself, I rarely read about female lead characters that are nurses, so I loved the fact that Whitney was one. She sure was a much kinder and compassionate nurse then I am to be honest. And there where things she did as a nurse I didn’t get. But I loved her!
Caleb was one of those characters that changed right when he met the ‘right’ woman. And I loved that! I loved how he was rich, but wasn’t arrogant and just wanted to make life better for Whitney. We also read about Whitney’s best friend Emily. And I really hope we get to read more about her someday. I loved how quirky and fun she was.
So what was so emotional about this read? Well.. obviously the whole Boston Marathon bombing was a thing. And their where some moments you’ll just have to read for yourself, that where heartbreaking and touching. I can’t really say to much about it without giving things away. But ‘When We Met’ definitely blew my mind, and I wouldn’t have wanted to miss this read for the world.

I can see that Whitney working as a nurse during the Boston Marathon would definitely add an emotional punch to the story. And I love reading about a hero that changes/becomes a better man when he meets the right woman. 🙂
It definitely has been a very emotional read. But I loved it 😀
I love that they share a glance from across the room and it changes everything. Sounds like the author knows how to blend romantic moments, tragedy, and endearing love so well. Cool that you got a nurse heroine like your own career.
Yes, the author sure was able to do a great job with this book. 😉
Based on the synopsis I figured this would a great story and your review confirmed it. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks Nadene. Yes, it was a very good read.
