When ‘A Bridge Between Us’ got picked in my Book Club for the December read I was super excited. I never read a book by K.K. Allen before, but I heard some great stuff about her books so I couldn’t wait to start reading.
In ‘A Bridge Between Us’ we meet Carmen and Ridge. When Carmen and Ridge first met Carmen was only 13 years old. From the moment they meet Carmen and Ridge share this connection. But their families have been in a family feud for years and a friendship or more between them is definitely not something that is allowed. Their fathers really hate each other and nothing they say and do seem to be able to change that. But even with time passing by, the connection between Carmen and Ridge stays intense and almost unstoppable.
What I really enjoyed about this book was the fact we get to meet the two main characters in their early teens. And throughout this book we follow their lives and stories through the years. Most times I don’t really like it when a lot time passes by in a book. But in this one it fitted perfectly and I loved that. We read the story of when they met, but also many years later when they are in their late twenties , early thirties.
I loved that this book was so much more than a romance. It was also about their family feud, and how stubborn and hardheaded people can be. And there was also some suspense that kept me hooked. And there where many moments I didn’t expect at all.
The two main characters where easy to like. Carmen, this adventurous and sometimes reckless girl a.k.a. Wild One and Ridge, the silent hardworking guy who rarely had a good thing going on in his life. They were so different, but definitely perfect for each other.
‘A Bridge Between Us’ was definitely a touching, romantic read that was a little more heavy than I’d expected.. but loved all the same. And the best part about this being our book club read for December was definitely the fact we got to chat with the author.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this one! I wish it had worked for me, but not every book is going to fit with every reader. Happy Friday, Maureen! 🙂

I’ve read two books by KK Allen a few years ago and loved them. I’ve wanted to pick up another book by her and this sounds like a good one to try! Fabulous review!
