My Review:

I’ve enjoyed stories about vampires my whole life. And
I’ve been a fan of the TV show The Vampire Diaries from the moment the first
promo was on TV. I also have a view books of the original books of ‘The Vampire
Diaries’ by L.J. Smith and I read almost all of them.
So when I saw the sign-up for the blog tour for the book
‘The Originals: The Rise’ by Julie Plec on Candace’s Book Blog, I immediately
signed up. Even though I’m not very far in watching the tv series ‘The
Originals’ (I’m still in season one because I just have to much to do) I love
the characters of the Original vampire family. So I was thrilled when I heard
that I would be a part of the blog tour. Shortly after I received an E-copy of
the book in exchange for my honest review. And I couldn’t wait to start
reading.
‘The Originals: The Rise’ is based upon the TV series. I
was a little scared that this book would not be as good as the series. Just
because I really love the TV series, and most times I feel like books based
upon TV series aren’t very exciting and well written. But I must say I was
definitely surprised when I found out that this book was written very well.
From the moment this book started I enjoyed the writing style. Even if you’re
not familiar with ‘The Originals’ and the TV show, I think you will definitely
like this book.
In ‘The Originals: The Rise’ we read about the three
originals Elijah, Klaus and Rebekah. The family arrives in New Orleans in 1722,
thinking that they can build a home there. Unfortunately New Orleans is already
the home of witches and werewolves, and they are not happy to see the
Originals. Even though all three originals are spending their time differently,
they all have one thing in common: together always and forever. Elijah is
working hard on finding the family a home they can be happy and save from all
kinds of enemies. Klaus is seeking trouble in the arms of a woman everyone
want’s something from and Rebekah is enjoying her time with a French captain.
But soon they learn that the only thing that’s sure in life, is there
connection as family and that things can change in an instant.
I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to read but
especially very fun to read. I love the Originals and I loved to read about
their life in 1722. This book is written through the point of view of all three
originals and it made this book definitely more interesting. The character I
liked the most was definitely Rebekah. I love how passionately she is and how
she stands up for what she believes in.
This book is really fun to read if you like the TV
series, but definitely also if you haven’t seen the series but enjoy vampire
stories. This book is not too long and definitely not to short. It was a perfect
enjoyable read.
